Chapter 4

Yoshinori POV

To be honest, I was super excited when Hanako offered to let me stay with her for a while. She seems kind of stressed though, so I'm trying not to be too much of a hassle. As I struggled to saddle the horse named Yuri, Hanako got a little bit frustrated with me. Eventually though, we were off.

She took me out to see the sunrise which was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen. Besides her, of course.

Anything she did would put my heart in shambles, from the way her jet-black hair ends just above her petite shoulders, to her dimples that appear whenever she smiles. I just want to pull her into my arms and stay that way forever. But she doesn't feel the same way about me. I left Watanabe Hanako's mind the second she walked off of that bus in Osaka 2 years ago.

Hanako POV

It took way too long to get going but when we did, the result was so rewarding. The yellow sun spread out into gorgeous shades of orange and purple, faded into a faint pink before reaching the rest of the blue sky. I've seen this sight so many times but I never cease to be amazed. Yoshinori on the other hand, who has probably never seen anything like this in his life, just stared in awe. The wonder in his eyes drew me closer to him than I should be, but I stayed there, and remarked,

"Is it pretty?" He took a moment to answer, but eventually replied,

"Yes. Almost more beautiful than..." He stopped suddenly and his eyes went wide.

"Than what?" I chuckled. "Your girlfriend?" I laughed harder this time.

"Tch. I wish." He stared at me meaningfully. I couldn't help but get lost in his stormy eyes. The sun shone on his cheekbones in a way that was indescribably beautiful. We've been sitting here for too long. I cleared my throat.

"We should take some pictures now... It's getting late." I looked away, trying to hide my pink cheeks.

"You're right." He looked flustered too. "You stand over there, I'll take pictures of your silhouette." Huh? I thought we were out here for the sunset?

"Why? I thought we were here for the sunset."

"We are. But if you stand in front of it, your silhouette will make a... Well, I don't really know how to explain it, but if you just try-"

"Okay, fine. Make it quick though." I probably looked like a log standing vertically but this is just to show the result. "Is it done yet?"

"Yeah, come here." I jogged over and looked over his shoulder. Wow. That really is pretty.

"I like that! Can we do more?" I sounded like a kid, but I hadn't been this excited in forever. He looked down at me and smiled. I love that smile.

"Of course."

For the next 30 minutes, we took turns taking pictures of Nako and Yuri, me, and I even got some photography lessons from Yoshinori. Everything came out so nicely.

Since we had the whole day, we spent hours riding and goofing around until the horses couldn't handle it anymore. We went home and had miso soup for lunch. Everything after that was sort of a blur but I will still remember this day forever.

"Well," I started, standing up. "I'm going to bed since I have work in the morning. Don't worry, you can sleep in." I laughed. "Good night, Yoshinori."

"Good night, Hanako." He flashed a smile as I tried not to scream right then.

Next Morning

I woke up at 7:00 today because work started a little bit later today. When I got to the kitchen, Yoshinori was at the stove making an omelette.

"Oh, hey!" He said, turning around and smiling at me. Peak devastation. I couldn't bring myself to speak, the sight before my eyes was just so breathtaking. "I'm guessing you want some?"

"Yea- Yes please." I cleared my throat and walked to the cabinet and got a plate.

"Here, I'll do that for you." He took my plate and served the omelette with a smile on his face, not paying any attention to me who was just standing there. Suddenly, there was a knock on the front door, pulling me out of my trance. I quickly answered the door and was immediately shocked to see...
