Chapter 9

It's Christmas Eve today so we didn't do much besides wait anxiously for the next day.

When I got bored I decided to mess with Yoshinori a little bit.

"Babe, I lost my earring outside, can you help me find it?" Of course he agreed, so we went outside and started searching for my earring that doesn't exist.

After about 15 minutes of faithful searching, and obviously no result, Yoshinori pointed something out.

"Come here, I think I found it!" I ran over, confused.

In his hand was a silver pin with a clear 'Y' engraved into it.

"Do you want to know something?" I looked up at him.

"What is it?"

"I didn't lose an earring." He looked betrayed. I smiled and hung my arms around his neck and he just stood there.

"I'm too sober for this." I almost died laughing but suddenly realized,

"Wait, where did that pin come from though? It's not mine."

"It has a 'Y' on it, too. That's what my name starts with in english."

We both spent a moment looking at the pin. It was small and round and the color was slightly faded.

"Should I just keep it?"

"I don't see why not." I shrugged and put the pin in my pocket.

Yoshinori picked me up bridal style and I squealed.

"Can you not?"

"Do you prefer something else?"

"Sure. What could possibly go wrO-" I was cut off when Yoshinori let go of my legs and stood me up on my two feet. "Why would you do that???" I whined.

"Because you're cute."

"And you're Satan." I pouted.

"Why are you so cute?" I hit him on the shoulder. "Ouchie! Do it again."

"No, what the heck?" I looked at him in disbelief, "why do you want me to hit you?"

He shrugged his shoulders.

"I dunno. I guess everything you do is perfect." I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah right. We both know that you're the perfect one here. Come on, let's go inside." He held onto my arm as we went inside.

"Any luck with the earring?" My dad asked.

"There actually was no earring. I was just playing a trick on Yoshinori," I said, laughing. "But we did find this pin with a 'Y' on it." I handed it to my mom.

"Have you found one with a 'H' on it?"

"No, why?"

"Nothing. If you do, tell me."

"Okay..." I laughed a little bit and sat down. The rest of the day was calm and the air was filled with laughter and joy as we played board games and tried to guess what we each got as presents.

As the night approached, we were all eager to call it a night so that Christmas could come sooner.

"Airi, are you sleeping in the living room again tonight?" I asked. "You know I don't mind you sleeping in my bed, right?"

"Yeah, but I like the floor."

"Ok, if you say so. Well then, in that case, I will be going to bed." I got up from the floor and held my hand out to Yoshinori and helped him up.

"I feel bad for dragging you to bed every night. You can stay awake for however long you want."

"No, I like going to bed with you. I read somewhere that it strengthens relationships." He swung our intertwined hands back and forth.

"You really love me, don't you?"

"Of course I do. You're my entire world. I can't imagine what I would do without you." We walked into the room and he closed the door.

He turned to face me and took both of my hands in his.

"Do you know quite how much I love you?" He looked at me so intensely all I could manage to do was shake my head no. "I've fallen hard for you, Hanako. I would do anything and everything for you. Anything you want, it's yours. I would move the moon and the sun for you Hanako."

I was tearing up. No one had ever loved me this much before. He wiped my tears and pulled me into his arms.

All I could think about was Yoshinori. He's changed my life in so many ways, I can't imagine how my life would have gone if I had never met him.

I cried into his shoulder, soaking his shirt with my tears.

"You're such a mess, darling," he rubbed my back, "I can't ever lose you."
