Chapter 14
A tear escaped my eye but I quickly wiped it away and composed myself as Yoshinori walked down the hallway.
"Oh crap, let me call an Uber or something." I pulled out my phone and called someone to take Yoshinori to Kobe.
"Why are you doing all the work for me?" Yoshinori clung to me and pouted.
I held the phone out to him and raised my eyebrows.
"Would you like to?"
He smiled and put the phone to his ear.
"Hi, can I get an Uber from XXX XXXX Hokusetsu to Kobe please?" He said to the person on the other line, still maintaining eye contact with me. "Yep, see you then."
He turned off the phone and handed it to me.
"O...kay..." I said while putting my phone in my pocket.
Yoshinori sighed and pulled me to him.
"I love you," Yoshinori said.
"I know." I chuckled.
"No, I mean I really love you. I wouldn't give you up for anything."
I could feel the sincerity in his voice and I sniffled.
"Aw come on, you're making me cry."
Yoshinori led me to the couch and sat me in his lap.
"It's okay, let it out. I'm here for you."
Yoshinori stroked my head while I cried. I don't know why I cry so easily, but Yoshinori is always there for me. I always have a shoulder to cry on. Except for the next...
"How long are you planning on being gone?" I asked.
"About a week and a half. Why?"
"Because I want to know how long it will be until I see you again, duh."
"I'll miss you too."
My phone got a notification from my phone saying that the Uber was here. I stood from my seat and helped Yoshinori up as well. I picked up his luggages and walked sadly to the front door with my back still facing Yoshinori.
"Why aren't you facing me?" He said quietly.
"I'm sorry... It just hurts." I tried to hold back my tears as I turned around. "I know you won't be gone for long but I... I'm gonna miss you a ton."
I quickly wiped a tear from my eye after a failed attempt at controlling myself. I opened the door and passed the luggage to Yoshinori.
"Please talk to me," Yoshinori begged. I could hear his voice shaking.
"I'm sorry. I love you so much." I looked straight into his eyes. "The driver is waiting. I love you with all of my heart."
He grabbed my waist and kissed me. It was a goodbye kiss, definitely. But it is not a forever goodbye.
