Chapter 10

As soon as I woke up I realized it was Christmas. I shot up and threw my hands into the air.

"Merry Christmas!" I screamed.

I turned around and saw Yoshinori rubbing his eyes.

"What are you so loud for?" He said, disoriented. I laughed.

"Looks like you don't know me as well as you think." I smiled and gave him a little kiss before grabbing his hand, "Come on, get up. It's Christmas!"

"I don't want to." Yoshinori grumbled while pulling the covers over his head. "You can spend some time with your family."

"I-" I wanted him to come out with me but I remembered what I said last night about him not having to follow me everywhere. "Come down when you are ready, I will be waiting, okay?"

I gave him a kiss on the forehead and rushed down the hall. Everyone was sitting impatiently on the floor, assumingly waiting for me to join so they could start opening presents.

I joined and my dad was quick to point out,

"Where's the boy?"

"He has a name, you know." I rolled my eyes. "Anyways, Yoshinori is sleeping."

"Well that's a bummer, we would have loved to have him join us," My mum said. "Anyways let's open presents!"

Airi grabbed a present from under the tree and started ripping off the snowman-patterned wrapping paper.

The present was thin and had a little bit of weight to it. When she opened it, it was a metal box of high-quality colored pencils.

"Oh heck yeah!" She exclaimed, holding the colored pencils in the air. I glanced at my mum who had a tender smile on her face.

"Okay Haruto, open one of yours." My mum said.

Haruto grabbed the smallest of his presents and unwrapped it. It was a new shirt that said Nirvana. He seemed to like it and it looked like it would suit him very well.

Yoshinori came down and took a seat next to me and pulled me into his lap. As I picked one of my presents from under the tree, my mum looked at me sheepishly.

"I don't really know what you like nowadays so I just got you something...vague."

"That's okay, I'm not picky."

I opened the present and it was some... underwear. Yeah, that's it. I panicked and shoved the garments back into the box when I remembered that I was sitting in Yoshinori's lap. Everyone laughed while I sat with my head in my hands.

Yoshinori put his hand on my shoulder and whispered in my ear,

"It's okay, as long as I get to see you wearing it."

I snapped my head up and stared at him wide-eyed.

"Why would you say that?!" I whisper-yelled.

"Deal or no deal?"

I looked away.

"Deal." I muttered so that only Yoshinori could hear. "Guys, let's keep going with the presents."

The rest of the evening went well, besides the suffocating tension between me and Yoshinori. Christmas dinner went well; the food was just right and the night was full of laughter. And besides me and Haruto's childish bickering, there wasn't a family fight.

At the end of the night, mum, dad, Haruto and Airi had to leave back to America, and will likely not be seen again until next year.

"Bye," I said in english, so that my younger siblings could understand as clearly as possible. "I love you so much. I'll make sure to keep in contact the rest of the year." I bid each of them a special goodbye, maybe shed a few tears, but I gave myself a minute after the front door closed.

Yoshinori took me to the room and held me in his arms while I calmed down. When I had regained my composure, I looked up at Yoshinori and kissed him. He hesitated and pulled away.

"Are you sure you're okay with this?" He asked, and I could tell that he was trying to be as considerate as possible.

"Yes. I want you."

Our lips met with hunger and desire. My hands traveled to his chest, where I could feel his heart beating quickly. I realized mine was too.
