Chapter 19
When I woke up, I remembered what happened yesterday and prayed that it wasn't just a dream. I braced myself for disappointment as I rolled onto my other side.
Words couldn't express my relief and happiness when I saw Yoshinori sleeping peacefully beside me.
I inched my body closer to him and wrapped my arms around his waist. Fortunately, it didn't seem to disrupt his sleep and he continued to rest soundly. I nuzzled my face into Yosinori's chest and tried to go back to sleep but I couldn't so I just cuddled him, waiting for him to wake up.
I anxiously waited for what seemed to be a long time. When I looked at the clock it read 9:24 am, indicating that it had only been about five minutes since I woke up. I wanted to wake Yoshinori up but he needed more sleep than what I had gotten.
After waiting agonisingly for a long time, I felt Yoshinori fumbling with the blanket followed by a series of groggy mumbling. I was quick to catch his attention with a quick peck on the top of his head. His face twisted in confusion at first at the sight of my face but was quickly replaced by delight.
He smiled wider than I had ever thought to be possible and sat up. I did the same and greeted him happily.
"Good morning, cutie." I greeted.
"Very good morning to you too, my love."
I smiled at his choice of words.
"You look puffy today."
He frowned.
"So do you but I wasn't going to comment because I'm nice like that."
"We can be puffy together!" I exclaimed.
I giggled and wrapped my arms around Yoshinori's neck, stealing a quick kiss before running out of the room and swinging the door shut to give myself a head start. I hid behind the counter so that I wouldn't be too hard to find. Not long after, Yoshinori came shuffling into the kitchen. I jumped up from my hiding spot and yelled,
"Surprise!"
Yoshinori looked tired and unimpressed.
"You have way too much energy today."
"Not true, you just need breakfast."
I started to take out the leftover soup from yesterday but Yoshinori came from behind me and held both of my hands so I couldn't move.
"Let's go out." I was slightly taken aback by his request but replied quickly.
"Yoshinori, we're dating already."
"That's not what I meant. But can we actually be dating if we've never even gone on a date?"
"Well then what did you mean? And no, I guess not."
"I was thinking," he said mischievously. "We should go on a real date in the city today."
I turned around to his smirking face.
"What would we do?"
"I don't know, like eat breakfast, walk around and do touristy things and then eat lunch and then do whatever else."
"You seem to have this all planned out."
"Not at all."
I laughed but agreed anyway.
"What should I wear?"
"Nothing fancy, just jeans and a t-shirt or something."
"Okay."
