Chapter 6

Surprisingly, not everyone was standing at my door. Just Airi.

"Where's everyone else?" I questioned.

"They wanted to give you some space."

"Ah," I mouthed. "Well, I have had my space, now we need to talk about details." I made my way to the living room and Yoshinori followed, along with Airi.

"So," I started, eyeing down my parents. "How long will you be staying?" My mum was the first to answer.

"I'm not sure. Maybe 'till New Years?"

It's not even Christmas yet!

"Nope. How about you leave Christmas night?" My mum looked sad but... I need space and alone time.

"Well," She hesitated. "Okay." Yes. Thank goodness she's not going to be pushy. "Hold on... Where's your Christmas tree?"

"Oh.. Ummm.. It's in the shed." I admitted, scratching the back of my neck. Mum looked disappointed and Haruto seemed like he was ready to fight me.

"What do you mean in the shed!?" Haruto's voice kept cracking and I couldn't stop laughing. "Are you the Grinch or something? Mum, she's going to steal our Christmas! I knew I didn't want to come here." I couldn't even breathe because I was laughing so hard. All I managed to say was,

"I'm not going to steal Christmas!" After that, me and Haruto continued to bicker about random things. Yoshinori was holding onto my arm and laughing at Haruto and I's argument while the others tried to calm Haruto down.

But, we still had to figure out who was sleeping where.

"Why don't you and Yoshinori both sleep in the same room?" My mum suggested.

"No!" My dad spoke for the first time today.

"Why not?"

"They just met!"

Although my dad was right, I didn't particularly mind sleeping in the same room as Yoshonori. I decided to take the lead.

"How about Yoshinori will sleep in my room, mum and dad are in the guest room, and Haruto and Airi get the couch." Everyone except Airi seemed happy with the arrangement.

"Hanako-san, you only have one couch." She pouted.

This does present a problem.

"Uh well..." I turned to Yoshinori. "What should we do?"

"I can sleep on the floor. You and Airi can have the bed." He smiled innocently. I stared at him in disbelief.

"You don't have to-"

"Isn't it the only way?"

"I guess so, but I don't want you sleeping on the floor." I pouted. "My bed is pretty big. Maybe all three of us can fit."

"We'd be all squished together though." Airi chimed in.

"How about this, Airi will sleep on one edge of the bed, I will sleep in the middle, and Yoshinori will sleep on the other side. That way no one is sleeping next to someone they don't know." I looked around. "Does that seem okay?"

"Whatever you want." Yoshinori agreed.

"Now we need to put up your tree," my mum reminded us.

"Ah, I forgot." I mentally face palmed. "Alright. Let's go get it."

Getting the Christmas tree out of the shed was a challenge but putting the ornaments on was a piece of cake. When the tree was up and decorated, mum hauled the presents out of the car and placed them under the tree. She stopped and realized something.

"I don't have any presents for Yoshinori!" Yoshinori was quick to respond.

"No, no, that's alright. I don't need anything."

"Oh, I am so sorry! If i had known-"

"Mum. It's okay." I interrupted. "I'll find him something."

"Hanako, I don't need anything. Just having you is enough." I blushed and everyone else cringed and pretended to vomit. Yoshinori however looked extremely proud of himself. I sighed.

"Guys, it's getting late. I'm going to get some blankets for Ruto." I waved goodbye and walked away. As expected, Yoshinori followed closely.

I walked into my room and grabbed a blanket out of the closet. Yoshinori grabbed me from behind and tackled me to the bed.

"Yoshinori, not now please." I whined.

"Why?" He snuggled closer to me.

"Because-" I realized that I didn't really have a specific reason not to be doing this. "Okay, just hold on. Haruto! Come get your blanket!" I yelled. He came in with his hand over his eyes and grabbed the blanket, then proceeded to leave the room. I rolled my eyes.

"Haruto, hold on."

"Huh?" He turned around with his eyes still covered.

"You can uncover your eyes, dude. Anyways, tell Airi that she can stay up later and watch TV for a bit."

"Fine." He walked out of the room, constantly tripping over the blanket. Yoshinori pulled me closer towards him so that my back was against his chest.

I sighed and melted into his embrace.

"This is perfect," I smiled.

"That's exactly what I want to hear," I turned around so I could look at his face. He's only gotten more handsome since we first met.

"Can I just..." I stared into his eyes and brought my hand up to his cheek.

"Hmm?"

"Is it weird if I just look at you?" I looked away and took my hand off his cheek.

"It's not weird at all," He grabbed my hand and held it against his cheek and smiled that angelic smile.

"I love your smile. It makes me smile."

"Then I'll keep smiling. Just for you."

I caressed his face and noticed his lips. So beautiful. Yoshinori might have noticed this and his lips turned up into a smile.

"Whatcha looking' at?"

"You."

"Be specific."

"You can't make me." I shouldn't have said that. I should not have said that.

He smirked.

"What if I can?"

"No no no no please. I was looking at your lips." I quickly answered in order to avoid any conflict. He smiled once again and inched his face closer to mine. Our noses were almost touching. I tried to look away but Yoshinori took my face in his hands.

"You know I love you, right?" My face turned bright red.

"I dunno. Should I?" He looked sad.

"What can I do to show you?" He asked sincerely.

"Nothing." I chuckled. "I already know. The way you follow me around like a lost puppy and your need to be with me all the time. That's how I know."

"You mean so much to me. I hope you know that." We lay still for a moment until he leaned in and kissed me sweetly. At first I was surprised, but after a moment I kissed back. That sweet kiss turned into a light make-out session.

"Goodnight honey-" Me and Yoshinori stopped abruptly. My mum was already gone but I still yelled good night to her.

"Let's just sleep." I suggested, snuggling into Yoshinori.

"Good night, my love."
