Chapter 3
"Okay, let me just get the spare bedroom tidied up for you." I sprinted down the hallway trying not to scream in frustration. There is going to be a man that I don't even know sleeping in my house! I made an attempt to dust off the shelves and bed that hasn't been touched in years. Several coughing fits later, I was done and ran out to tell Yoshinori that his suite was ready.
"Hey, the room is ready. Do you have a suitcase?"
"Yea, It's outside, let me go get it." And with that, he went out to get his luggage. I mentally slapped myself for the 100,000th time. After he came back in, I led him to the room.
"I'm sorry everything's so dusty, I don't get many visitors. Like, ever."
"It's okay," He seemed to understand my situation. "You probably weren't expecting guests any time soon." Maybe he won't be so bad after all.
"Would you like to ride the horses tomorrow? I'm off work so I have all day. You might be able to take some nice pictures, if we get the right time of day."
"That would be nice!"
"Okay then. We're going to be up early so get to sleep quickly. Good night."
"Good night." He waved goodbye as I left the room.
All night I couldn't sleep because I was thinking about Yoshinori. He's so easy to talk to and easily one of the sweetest people I've ever met. I tossed and turned, imagining how the morning would go. I hope Yuri likes him.
Next Morning
I woke up at 5:00am as usual, and hopped out of bed. Today I was happier than I had been in a while. You're right- It's all because of Yoshinori. I put more effort into breakfast than I normally would, so it took about 35 minutes to make. But that's okay because it gives Yoshinori more time to sleep, and no, I did not fall in love, I am simply just being considerate of my guest.
I skipped down the hall to the guest room and flung open the door
"Rise and shine bus boy, we have a field trip!" I don't think he heard me so I went to the kitchen and grabbed two pans. I stood next to Yoshinori who was still fast asleep and banged the pans together.
"Ahhh!" He shot up. "What was that for?" He pouted. No. Stop. That's too cute.
"You weren't waking up." I answered plainly.
"How many times did you try? I'm a very light sleeper."
"I don't know who lied to you, but you sleep like a rock." I'm partially lying but to be fair, I did try once and that didn't work. "But that doesn't matter because it's already 5:45."
"Why so early?" He whined
"Because we have a lot to do! We might miss the sunset if we don't hurry so get dressed, grab your camera and something to eat. I'll be in the barn."
I made my way to the barn as quickly as possible because first of all, we are in a rush and second of all, I want to get away from Yoshinori as quickly as I can. But it's mostly because of Yoshinori.
I let out a sigh of relief when I went into the barn.
"Yuri, you get to meet someone new today. Please be nice to him," I stroked her mane hoping for her to be in a good mood today. Then I realized that I would need another person today since I will be taking both of the horses out today. I groaned and made my way back into the house.
"Yoshinoriiiiii" I called impatiently. I walked into the kitchen to see him stuffing his face with rice and pickled vegetables. "I'm... Glad you're enjoying breakfast." He swallowed quickly and then replied,
"Thank you for the food, what do you need?"
"I need your help with the horses."
"Ah, okay." I turned on my heel and hoped he was following.
I went into the barn for the ninth time today.
"I'm going to take a wild guess and say that you don't know how to saddle a horse?"
"You would be correct"
And with that, we got to work.
