Chapter Twenty-Six: Things are Starting to Look Okay
I walked alone up to the bathrooms. I needed a little time to myself. Soon, like at any moment, Chiron might send us up to Olympus. We were wasting time; putting it off. The sooner the better. It was already June 19. Which means only two days left until the gods have their meeting or whatever. I still don’t understand why I have to be there when there are a bunch of gods. But I guess I can’t argue.
I got to the bathroom and turned the hot water on in the shower. I took my shirt and shorts off and was in nothing but my bra and underwear when a familiar voice startled me from behind.
“Honestly, Zoe, are you always naked?” Apollo said. I jumped a foot in the air.
“What are you doing in here?” I screeched. “These are the girl’s showers! And I’m not naked!”
“Well, you’re close enough. I’m a god, I don’t need to follow the rules. And besides, I’m bored, so I thought, ‘hey, I bet Zoe would love to see me!’ So here I am. Your prayers have been answered.”
I laughed. He was so ridiculous. “You know, Apollo. I have a boyfriend now. If he saw you, he would probably try to kill you.”
Apollo’s eyes widened. “You have a boyfriend? Is it that Hermes fellow? I knew you two would end up together. But honestly, Zoe, you could do so much better. Like, you could get with me.” He smirked at me.
“Um… I think I’ll pass. It’s a great offer and everything. But like I said I have a boyfriend. And I kind of know a lot of your kids… I think that would be just a little awkward. Oh, and I’m not dating Connor.”
Apollo looked like I hurt him a little, but not in a very serious way. He also looked shocked. “Oh well then. It was worth a shot. But don’t worry, someday you’ll see that you’ll want me. And who are you dating?”
I smirked. “Someone.”
Apollo pouted. “Why won’t you tell me?”
I have to admit, that little pout was kind of hard to resist. In fact, it was too hard to resist. “Okay, okay. I’ll tell you. Have you ever heard of Nico DiAngelo?”
I thought I had seen Apollo shocked, but I guess not. “Nico DiAngelo? Like, the son of Hades? Zoe!”
“Uh… what?” I wasn’t sure how to respond to him.
“He’s a little… Goth for you. Don’t you think? I mean, he’s always in the Underworld and with the dead people and he’s always mopping around about his sister. I mean, seriously. Why him?”
I was kind of shocked with what he was saying. “Oh… um… he’s really nice. And he’s not really Goth. He just kinda wears black a lot. But he doesn’t always. And he’s nice. And… why do I need to tell you?”
“Well, you don’t. I’m just curious. I guess he’s okay, for a son of Hades and all. But you could have at least tried to date one of my sons. They’re so much better. They have amazing talents with a bow. And with poetry. And Music. And everything else. Like me.”
I laughed. “Apollo, if you’re going to talk to me, could I at least put some cloths on? Or could you wait until my shower is done? It’s very awkward being in here with you, while I’m in nothing but my underwear.”
