Chapter Twenty: I Hate Fighting

The first person to recover was Annabeth, who started to crack up. She hunched over she was laughing so hard. Then Travis and Maria. They did the same thing as Annabeth. I stood there for a moment, not sure what to do. Everyone in the Dining Hall was either laughing or just staring. Dionysus had stormed out the second that Apollo left.

Chiron stood up, “Alright, everybody go do something. Just get out of here!” He yelled. Everyone besides our little group left. “Oh, and Drew, I want to see you bright and early at six am tomorrow morning in the Big House.” a smile spread it’s way onto my face.

“What!” She shrieked. “You can’t do that!” She said in the same voice she used on me earlier.

“Nice try Drew. But Charm Speaking doesn’t work on me. So, just for that, five am. Goodbye.”

I had to bite my lips from laughing. But that wasn’t a problem for long. The second that I saw Nico and Connor, the smirk came right off of my face. Chiron walked over to me, “Zoe, I’m sorry about that. Drew can be, well, like Drew sometimes. She likes to abuse her power a lot. But don’t worry, she’ll be getting what she deserves. But so will you. Trust me, Mr. D doesn’t forgive easily.” with that he walked away.

I turned to leave too, but the others stopped me. “Zoe! What on earth were you thinking!?” Connor yelled at me. I cringed away.

I gritted my teeth. “Well I’m so sorry.” I said with thick sarcasm. “I had no idea that this even involved you.” I said with a big, fake smile. I saw the others look at each other and slowly back away.

“You should be! And it does involve me, weather you like it or not!” He more or less yelled.

This made me mad. Who did he think he was? “Excuse me?” I said pretty belligerently. “And, I’m sorry, but how does this involve you?”

“Because it just does!” He said.

“Mh-hm. Is it because I got you precious girlfriend in trouble?” I asked with a scowl on my face.

He looked taken aback for a minute. “Actually, to be honest, partially. And why do you sound so offended that she’s my girlfriend? You have a boyfriend. I didn’t know that me dating someone else while you were dating someone else would bother you so much. And it was partially your idea in the first place!”

I was a little taken aback. I didn’t think that they were actually dating. But he did have a point. Why did it bug me so much? “It was ‘partially my idea’,” I said in a very poor imitation of his voice. “that you would break her heart. But I guess her ‘Charm Speaking’ got the best of you.”

I turned and started to walk away. As I was leaving though, I heard him call out. “Just so you know, she has never once used her Charm Speaking on me. In fact, I kissed her before she even mentioned becoming a couple.”

I stopped for a minute and almost turned around. But then just kept walking. When I was almost off the pavilion I called over my shoulder, “Ya know when I said that Nico kissed me on his bed when you walked in?” I waited a moment. “Well he did. But after that, I kissed him. Over and over again.” I knew this would bother him, and I smiled a little ruefully. But the smiled didn’t last very long.

I couldn’t help but let the few tears escape my eyes as I sat down on the beach. The sun had just set, but I didn’t want to go to bed. I didn’t feel like it. I wanted to fight. Now. And if I walked back towards where all the other campers I think I might just kill a few. So to save a majority of the camp, I stayed seated on the beach.
