       Chapter Twenty-Four: Roller-Coaster of Emotions

I convinced Nico to just take us home. I wasn’t really up to meeting any more Camp Jupiter people. They were all too… strange. But they were kind of familiar. I felt strangely at home there. Which makes no sense since Kronos, the Greek god-well Titan-is my father.

“So…” I said, trying to start some sort of conversation on our walk back to the entrance of this place. “does Octavian really have abs?”

Nico and Connor both looked at me like I was crazy. They so far had said nothing, leaving an awkward silence between all of us. “Really?” Nico asked.

“What? I’m really curious.” I said shrugging.

“Well, if you must know, yes he does. But they are not nearly as good as mine.”

I laughed.  “Of course not. I mean, whose abs could ever compare to yours?”

            “Mine!” Connor snapped.

“Oh please, Funny Boy, nothing can compare to these.” At that moment Nico lifted his shirt up, showing off his pretty nice abs. They were defined, but not grossly defined. Overall, pretty nice.

“Oh yeah, well, look at these!” Connor said, taking his shirt off. He too, had the perfect abs.

Nico turned to me. “Zoe, who’s abs are better?”

            “Yeah, Zoe, who’s?” Connor asked.

This was not fare to me. Making me stare at their abs and try to choose whose is better?  Not fare at all. But it was kind of nice looking at both of them. “Um… I feel like I should say Nico, because he is my boyfriend and all. But then again, Connor and I just got to being friends again and I wouldn’t want to make him mad…”

“Oh, just choose, Zoe! We won’t be mad, honest.” Connor said, raising his right hand. His blue eyes shining at me.

“Okay then… they are even. I mean, I could honestly stare at either all day.”

            “Oh, really?” Nico asked.

My heart stopped. “Oops, I didn’t mean to say that.”

Nico and Connor both laughed. “Maybe we could look at you shirtless for a while…” Connor suggested.

“That, I must agree, doesn’t sound all too bad…” Nico said.

I stopped in my tracks. I raised my eyebrows at the two. “Of course. That would be the one thing the two of you would agree on.”

They both smirked on me. I rolled my eyes. There were just certain things that I knew I would never understand between the two of them. “And just so you both know,” I said, “I do in fact have abs. They just aren’t that defined.” I paused for a moment. “I also have a bellybutton ring.”

“What? No you don’t!” Nico said. “I would have seen it.”

            Connor smirked. “I have.”

            “What?” Nico looked astonished.

Connor smirked. “Well, well, well. Someone doesn’t know his girlfriend as well as I do.” He said it in a very mocking tone, one that I knew very well would annoy Nico.
