(A/N - Okay this is Conner's POV from the beggiing of Chapter Four!)
I ran to Annabeth. “We need to get her some help.” Matt said from behind me. Matt was an okay kind of guy. Not my favorite brother, not my least favorite. “No,” Maria said from next to me. “She’s just shocked. She’ll be okay.”
I looked at Zoe and stepped back a little. She was starting to put her sword away. No, not her sword. That sword shouldn’t have been anyone’s. It should have been destroys, or at least thrown into the deepest pits of Tarturas to rot with it’s creator. It was Luke’s sword. Well, what used to be his sword.
I thought about all of this while I was running to get an Apollo kid from help. The first one I saw was Will. He was playing basketball with a few of his brothers. “Will! Quick, Annabeth needs help!” He was hesitating, clearly he didn’t want to go. “Now!” I ordered him. After that he followed me.
When he saw Annabeth he ran to her. “She’ll be okay. What happened to her?” He asked.
I looked to Maria. What should I tell him? Zoe would no doubt run me through if I told anyone else, or if I even mentioned it. I could tell she didn’t feel like she fit here. I just couldn’t understand why though. This is the one place that we all feel like we are in the right place. “She… um… got a little, shock.” I said, making up my mind. Will turned his head slightly, like he was trying to decipher what I meant. I laughed to myself. He could tell when people were lying, even all of us down at the Hermes cabin.
After a couple moments he gave up. “When she wakes up she should go back to her cabin. If you need anything else, I’ll be in my cabin.”
Annabeth moaned. She slowly got up. I ran over to her side along with Zoe. When Annabeth opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Zoe, not a good thing. She sprang to her feet. She looked like she had just seen a ghost. Which, in a way she had. Seeing his sword, here and now. I could even begin to imagine what it was like for her. I know that it sure as hell hurt for me. “Where. Did. You. Get. That. Sword?” She asked slowly, pointing at the necklace in my hand.
“My… um… father gave it to me.” Annabeth looked like she was about to be sick. I’m pretty sure that I looked the same way. If her father gave it to her, I could only think of one person that that could be. And I didn’t like it. But, there was no way that she could be that old if he was her father. There was something in the back of my mind. Something trying to connect a resemblance to someone that I knew. She did look a lot someone, but I couldn’t place her face. I felt like I should know this! I silently swore to myself.
“I thought you never saw your father before.” Maria asked her, narrowing her eyes.
Zoe swallowed. She looked nervous, like she was ready to puke. She also looked like she was on the brink of tears. I internally winced for her. “I didn’t. Last year, in August, it just appeared on my bed. There was a letter that said, ‘From Your Father’. But that’s it. I swear. It said it was for my birthday, even though it was two months late.”
“Do you know who that belonged to?” Annabeth asked shakily.
“Um… my father?” Zoe asked.
“I sure hope not.” Annabeth said as she walked out of the arena. Before she left though, she looked as if she was going to throw up.
Maria and I were the only ones who stayed with poor Zoe. Everyone else had practically ran out of the arena, like scared little rats. I felt like I could kill all of them for hurting her like that. In that moment, I didn’t know why, but when I saw her look to the people were talking behind her back, my heart broke each and every time.
