Sirens blared in the distance. I jolted my attention towards the noise. After a long silent walk, there was finally some type of sound.

"Listen." I turned around to face Taylor. Her attention was drawn in the same direction as mine. I just knew we were thinking the same thing. 'People..'

We both made our way through the woods. Branches wacked me in the face as my hair was decorated in spider webs. The siren started getting louder and louder. I knew we were drawing near.

Me and Taylor broke through the last barrier of trees and another road was exposed. My feet dug into the ground as I placed myself at a hold. We saw the source of the siren. A police car was flipped upside down.

"Let's search it." Taylor requested, heading towards the car.

"Be careful Taylor."

She kneeled down beside the window and peaked inside. I walked around the back and cautiously opened the trunk, the top of the trunk clanking on the concrete. A duffle bag fell out. I yanked the bag out of the trunk. "Taylor come here." Taylor walked up beside me. I unzipped the bag and exposed a pistol, along with more ammo. "This is like a video game." Taylor chuckled and helped me up.

"Take the weapon, let's keep moving." I said, nodding as I told Taylor to take the gun. She grabbed the gun and we continued walking.

Soon enough, I started spotting familiar land marks. Me and Taylor knew where we were. As the land makes got more notable our walking turned into jogging, and then soon enough, sprinting. A smile appeared on my face as I saw the welcoming sign to my neighborhood. I stopped at the entrance and looked at Taylor. "Do you still live here?" I asked. She nodded yes. I didn't know she still lived in the same house. "Keep Weapon in hand and after a while let's meet back at this place." She said. I agreed.

We went separate paths and I made a B-Line for my house. Everything seemed the same. I tried to walk into the front door but it was locked. I then walked towards the garage door, I grabbed the bottom and pulled up. Everything was normal. I walked around the car and saw my dad's tool box knocked over. My heart began racing, I could hear it in my ears. I busted in through the doorway. The house was quiet. "Mom! Dad!" I yelled. No response. I ran into the kitchen and my heart dropped. I began choking as I saw my mother laid out face down on the floor. A pool of blood around her face. Tears started instantly pouring as I leaned down to roll her over. I gagged as I saw her face. It has seemed her face was mauled by wolves. I pulled her up to me and cried. I placed her back down and ran upstairs. I busted into my parents door. My dad was laid in the corner. I grabbed my mouth as I noticed he looked the exact same as the zombies. I noticed a bullet hole in the wall and a bullet hole in his chest. I fell over and threw up. I was so lost. I noticed blood on the wall. There was a struggle. My mom must have grabbed the gun and shot him, after he mauled her. She had to have collapsed and died downstairs. 'Emilie..' I thought. I darted towards her room calling her name. She was no where to be seen. I searched the whole house. Still no sign of her.

I went into my room, tears falling down my face. I grabbed two of my favorite necklaces. I went into my parents room and placed my star necklace on my dad and went downstairs to place my sun necklace on my mom. I still need to find my sister. I grabbed a family photo and shoved It Into my bag. I have never been so scared and heartbroken. My knees started to wobbled. I collapsed. I fell to the ground and let out a scream. Not caring who heared me.

I got myself together and started walking towards the meeting spot. Taylor was already there. I looked at her. She was crying too. "My aunt's dead." Her voice cracked. "She had a massive gash in her stomach, one of those monsters got to her." My breath got even more shallow. I leaned down to hug her. She didn't hug back but soon enough hugged me even harder. "Is your family okay?" She asked. I nodded no. "My parents are dead, but my sister is missing, hell she could be dead or alive." I started crying again. Taylor rubbed my back. "What now?" She asked. "I'm going to find my sister." I picked up bag up off the floor. "You don't have to come with me, but I would feel much better if we stuck together." I looked back at Taylor. "I don't have anything to lose." She said. I smiled at her and we exited the neighborhood.

The air was heavy. It seemed as if neither of us had time to mourn and the damage was just getting stronger.
