Thomas
"Where is she," I ask through gritted teeth. My mom rubs my arm, "She's coming, Thomas. Just hold on." I groan, rolling onto my stomach, "Mom, it hurts."
"I know, baby boy. Ashton, where is she?!"
"She's pulling into the driveway! She's running towards the door, now she's in the house!"
"Where is he," I hear Saph ask. "Sapphire!" I hear the back door open then she whimpers, "Thomas, are you okay?"
"No I'm certainly not! My back feels like it's going to explode!" I growl, pounding the grass with my fist. I see her kneel down in front of me, her hands reaching out and running down my bare back. I crawl toward her, laying my head on her lap, then she kisses the spot between my shoulder blades. "You're going to be fine, baby. I'm not leaving you," she whispers. I groan then a surge of searing pain shoots through my entire body, "ALEX!" I feel my head being placed on the ground then I scream out in agony. I can hear crying but I can't do anything. I push myself to my knees then my mom shouts, "Thomas, you have to let go! Your wolf is fighting the change! You have to let go!" I close my eyes then imagine the wings bursting out of my back. The black Angel wings I was born to have; the ones I was destined with. My breathing quickens as I hear bones breaking in my back then all of a sudden, the pain stops. I hear gasps so I stand up slowly, a black wing catching my eye. Sapphire takes a picture then shows me, "Look." I can see the long black wings stretched out behind me and the flash catches the slight purple hue on the feathers. She smiles, "How are you feeling, baby?"
"I feel whole. Mom, can I take them for a test run?" She nods then I wrap my arms around Saph, holding her close, "Close your eyes, baby girl." She smiles then I shoot off into the night.
Sapphire
I feel the cold air against my face then Thomas whispers, "Open your eyes, Saph." I slowly open them and see the shining lights of the city below, "Oh my God, it's beautiful." I grip onto Thomas's shirt when he dives down them shoots up again. I bury my head in his chest, closing my eyes. "You okay baby girl?"
"It's a little cold," I whisper.
"What happened to my Letterman?" She shrugs, "I didn't know we were going to go night flying. I left it at the house." I sigh then turn around so we can go back home, "Thomas, you can keep flying, I don't mind."
"No, I'm not going to get you sick. Besides I'm starting to get tired from everything that happened." I sigh then close my eyes, waiting for us to get home.
10 minutes later
"Saph, baby, we're home." I open my eyes and Thomas is carrying me in his arms, his wings gone. He walks me into the house and I start shivering, not realizing how cold it really was outside. "Shit, Saph, wait here." He sets me on the couch, runs up to his room then runs back carrying a blanket. He wraps it around my shoulders but I grab his hand, pulling him onto the couch. I curl up into his side, whispering, "I love you Thomas."
"I love you too angel, always." He kisses my head then my eyes flutter close so I drift off into a peaceful sleep.
