Sapphire
"Hey Luke, how is he?" Luke pulls the stethoscope away from Thomas's chest, "He's actually responding more. You talking to him is helping." I smile, "Hi Thomas. I love you." His fingers twitch and I look at Luke, "Did you get the results?"
"Yeah but let's go to my office." We walk out and down the hall to his office. I sit in front of his desk as he looks through the results, "Well I think you'll be happy to know that they came back positive."
"Positive? I'm pregnant." He nods and I rest a hand on my stomach, "Do you know how far along I am?"
"Maybe 3 weeks. Congratulations sweetheart." Tears cloud my vision as Luke walks over to hug me tightly. I cry into his shoulder as he whispers, "You're going to be okay. Thomas is going to be happy once he wakes up." I nod then pull back, "I should go tell the family. Thank you Luke." He nods then I walk out of his office and towards the family room. Alex and Nik are already sitting on the couch so I call out, "Tiana, Ashton, Annie! Come down here please!" I hear footsteps running down the stairs then the three come into the living room. Tiana asks, "What's going on?"
"I need you guys to sit down. I have to tell you guys something." They take their seats then I smile, "I'm pregnant." There's a moment of silence then Alex jumps up, "Oh my dear, this is fantastic!" She runs over to hug me and I laugh as she baby talks to my stomach. Nik hugs me next and it's not one those light congratulatory hugs; it's one of those hugs a father gives a daughter. I rest my head on his shoulder then he pulls back with tears in his eyes, "Congratulations Sapphire." I thank him then Tiana and Annie come running over to hug me and congratulate me; Ashton is the last one. I feel something flutter in my stomach as soon as Luke comes running down the hall, "He's waking up!" It's like something took over me because I was the first one to take off down the hall. I almost fall but I reach Thomas's room to see him looking at me with half opened eyes. "Hi baby," he croaks.
"Thomas," I whisper. He opens his arms and I run over to give him a hug while I cry in his shoulder, "Shhh, I'm alright. It's okay, I'm here now baby girl." I clutch onto him as my hands shake; I can't believe he's awake. I pull back and he smiles, "I love you."
"I love you too." He looks behind me, "Hi momma, hi dad." I get up to give his parents space but Thomas grabs my hand, "Wait, don't leave." I nod then sit on the side of the bed while his parents do the whole reunion thing. After a while, Alex grabs Nik's hand, "We'll let you guys talk." They walk out and I look at Thomas, "I missed you. I would come in every night to talk to you."
"I know, I could hear you but I guess I wasn't strong enough to wake up yet."
"At least you're here now." He kisses my hand, "I'm never going to leave you again baby." Now I remember that I forgot to tell him something. I smile, "I'm not your baby, Thomas." His eyebrows furrow together, "What do you mean? You're always going to be my baby."
"No because this is your baby," I tell him, placing his hand over my stomach. He looks then this realization just comes over his face, "You're pregnant?" I nod and he leans forward, pressing a kiss to my lips then to my stomach. I giggle when he lifts my shirt and blows a raspberry on the skin, "Stop, Thomas, that tickles." He pulls back then he whispers, "I love you Sapphire."
"I love you too." He pulls me down so I lay next to him and end up falling asleep.
