I'm such an idiot. Why did I start yelling? This is all my fault, I'm such a bad mate. Luke, our new pack doctor, steps out of Saph's room then nods, "She's going to be alright. She's still unconscious but she should wake up soon."
"Thanks Luke." He nods and walks into his office. I step into the room and see my mate laying on the bed with a mask placed over her mouth and nose, giving her oxygen. I grab one of her hand then whisper, "I'm sorry Sapphire. I shouldn't have yelled, I was being careless and stupid." Her hand twitches then her eyes slowly open. I kiss her hand as she smiles then lifts her hand to place it against my cheek. "Hi there angel." She smiles then drops her hand as she touches the mask on her face and her eyes widen in fear. I shake my head, "Shh, you're okay. You just had a slight panic attack but you're okay." She nods then the door opens as everyone walks in. Ash has a guilty look on his face as he says, "Saph, I'm so sorry about what happened. I didn't mean for it to get out of hand." Saph nods and pulls the mask off her face mouthing, It's okay Ashy. He smiles then Saph looks at me, You have some explaining to do.
"Yeah I know but we should do this where everyone isn't cramped in a small space. Come on, let's get you out of here." I scoop her up in my arms and walk out of the hospital room. I sit her on the couch then sit in between her legs on the floor. My mom sighs, "I guess I should start then. Well, Sapphire, before I start, I think you should know that we care about you so much. We didn't want this to happen this way but I guess now it has to." She gives me a look and I shrink back against the couch. She takes a deep breath then starts, "When I was a little girl, my mom and I would move from state to state constantly. She wouldn't tell me why so for 13 years I had no clue what was going on. One day, I was in school when I felt this excruciating pain in my back so I ran out and when I got to the forest, I sprouted black angel wings. I was shocked, scared, and worried because I didn't know why this was happening to me but my mom explained it to me. My mom met my dad when they were in high school, got married and my mom was pregnant with me when my dad left. My dad was the Devil and all his children are Fallen Angels but I was special because my mom was a witch so I inherited powers as well as my wings." She looks over at Annie, "That's why you can see visions, baby." Annie smiles then my mom continues, "My father was a terrible man and I can never forgive him for what he's done to my family. I killed myself so I could kill him in Hell. I was granted the ability to come back as long as I gave my crown to someone else. I have 5 other siblings who have chosen to live in Hell so the eldest was given the title of queen."
"Hold on, how did I not know about them," I ask.
"Sweetie, your father didn't even know till our wedding day. They came to congratulate us but I haven't seen them since then." I nod and I feel Saph rub my shoulders.
"We knew that our first born would be a mix of us; half wolf, half Fallen Angel. You already shifted but you'll get your wings when you turn 18 like I did." I feel Sapphire's hands let go of me and I turn around to see her pinching herself. "Sapphire!" I grab her hands and she shakes her head, mouthing, This isn't real.
"Yes it is. I can show you my wolf and my mom can show you that she's an angel. Trust us." She nods and we lead her outside. I sit her on the grass then step out into the yard, letting my bones break and morph. I look up and Saph has tears running down her face. I walk up to her and lick her cheeks, her salty tears against my tongue. She smiles then runs her hands through the fur on my head. She stops but I whimper and nudge her hand with my head.
"Thomas shift back now," my dad tells me. I close my eyes then shift back into my human form. I lay my head on Sapphire's lap as she watches my mom grow her wings and soar into the sky. Saph taps my chest and I look up at her as she mouths, What's a mate?
Shit, I knew I forgot something.
