The night time came, I was still in my room thinking about my father's last words.
"remember, I love you no matter what. Forgive me if this really distracted you. But I have to for the sake of your life and so mine. Let's not forget, Lendas, too. That's it, I have to go now."
My father never really had so much time for me since I was young. He would always tell me how guilty he is. Since mom passed away when I was eight years old, dad became more protective. I was homeschooled my whole life. Not like I didn't like it, I actually really did enjoy reading and learning. But I want to meet more people and have as many friends as I could make. Well, I only got Junna and that's enough for me. I sighed loudly, shutting my eyes tightly. Let's just wait for tomorrow to see the new 'bodyguard'.
~
"morning!" I kissed granny's cheek after I came downstairs to where she was. She was in the kitchen making breakfast.
"four plates?" I asked, looking at the plates and back at her.
"you already forgot?" Granny stared at me with her funny gaze. "Your father and so called your new bodyguard are coming today." I made a O–face look at her. Remembering, nodding slowly.
"Right..." I told her sitting on the chair, waiting for breakfast. She noticed my sudden behavior and walked to me.
"hey, just calm down a bit and wait for it to see if he is a good one or not. Alright?" being smiled at me, I smiled back to her. "Good to see you lightening for a bit." she caressed my arm up and down slowly and softly. Hearing some knocks on the door, Granny walked to the door opening it to be revealed by my father and unknown man beside him. I guess he is the bodyguard. "hello, please come inside. I got the breakfast ready for us to eat." my father smiled with a nod. I stood up seeing him walking towards me. He gave me a hug, and so I hugged back.
"hey..." it came out of his mouth more like a whisper. "let's eat and then talk about this topic after." I nodded being nervous. "this is Jeongguk Jeon. And Jeon, this is Angelina." I gave him a low nod toward Jeongguk as he nodded back. Is he going to live here? Of course he will, you dumbass Angie. Wait... Oh my God, I'm still in my baby blue with a small kitty pijama. My inner self told myself. I shook my head low, shaking me and my talks away. The morning breakfast was worse than I had imagined it to be.
Silent…
I hate this 'peace morning breakfast'. It is not peace at all. My body is so tense. I couldn't even feel the taste of the food Granny made. I stole a gaze at Jeongguk in front. Being staring at me back, I looked away idiotic from him. Damn it! Angie! Why would you even look at him? Stupid, stupid, stupid! The petite circlet table irritates me, Why? Because we are all so close to each other that I feel his powerful gaze on me. My breath was screaming and wanted to exhale from my lungs. Without realizing it, I exhaled loudly. Being staring at me. I frowned.
"you alright there, dear?" asked Granny worried. I nod my head with a small smile. Seeing my father smiling at me, I smiled back and just tried to ignore the guy in front of me. After picking the dishes up and cleaning them. Me and Granny made our way to the living room where my father and Jeongguk were waiting.
"as you know, Jeongguk is going to live here from now on." I shut my eyes tightly, trying to control myself down. And got my ears ready to hear him again. "Jeongguk isn't someone like any other bodyguards you had before-" being fed up, I stood from my seat facing my father down.
"rubbish! I can't believe it! I'm really sick and tired of your same words! Every guard you have hired them to protect me is the same! They are all the same! Stop saying they are special or stronger and fearless. As to that no one is like that!" my voice got cracked. I still managed to hold my tears back. Now was Fathers turn to stand up above my level. Looking all livid.
"this would have never happened if you wouldn't exist!" I froze at my place, this sentence hit my heart with a fire arrow. I was staring at him not believing it. "I wish you were never born! Goddammit! Do you know how hard my job is and how damn hard it is to find this guy?!" he furiously pointed at the unemotional guy, and Granny gasped disappointed at my father. "They don't work for nothing, Angelina! They get paid, they get high paid, Angelina! Why can't you listen to me!" I was so broken at this point where I can't think anymore. I let my tears stream to wherever they want to escape. I couldn't hold it any longer. I bursted in front of my father.
" I hate you! I bet I would hate you if I wasn't your daughter! You don't know a thing! You only hire and fire them without knowing what they did or did not do!" I couldn't hold my hard sobs. I hide my eyes with palms.
"what are you saying!? What about the last guard who ran to me with his blood over his forehead! Huh! That time you had gone too far! Why did you even hurt the last guard? ! Why Angelina?!–" I took my palms away from my face, looking at my father with much hatred. Granny was tearing up and tried to approach me. She hates to see us fighting.
"I pushed him because...he deserved it."
" really now?" he says, shaking his head, disappointed.
" he was horrible–He IS horrible! They all are!" I bite my lips. Stop… dad shouldn't know about this. Lenda can't know about this either. Don't say it… don't.
"I don't have time for this, Angelina! Speak clear!" I shut my eyes tightly, hugging my own shoulders.
"those guys tried to make some moves on me!" I cried. Granny gasped. Fathers face was shocked. Lendas breathing was heavy.
"Lenda!" I called her name out, running to get some water. While filling the cup water, I saw my shaky hands. Curse you, Angie. You shouldn't have said this in front of her. Without realizing the water overflowing to my feet from the cup. I sighed and ran back to the living room. Good thing father and Jeongguk got her up on the couch. "here." I told her, kneeling down. She was drinking it slowly with tears streaming. I didn't dare to look at anyones eyes.
"Why haven't you told me?" she says softly looking at the empty cup in her aged hands. I stood up without saying anything. Father hugged me, caressing my hair.
"I apologize." was all he said before I heard the door slam. Finally alone… For a bit.
"You should have told me. How didn't I notice anything?"
"I just couldn't get It out of my chest. But now it did." she nodded slowly, she suddenly placed her head on my shoulder when I sat beside her. And we cried silently.
