We heard footsteps on the way towards us. She paled and gulped before taking the tray. Moving her legs to the living room, and me leading with her. My mind is twisted, I can't think straight and I have never felt like this before, nervous and nauseous about the atmosphere.
Uncle's wife places the tray on the table in the living room. We both sat down, and I see her sweating and trying to control her panting. I wanted to reassure her when uncle comes inside with a big smile on his face. I decided to act quick and send him a smile as well. My nose flare, inhaling an odd scent from him after he sat next to me, pouring water in his cup. Ella was shaking and is soon about to break her character. I had to do something to make her go unnoticed—although...Uncle beat me to it.
"Ella...behave.." his tone sends shiver through my blood. With alarmed eyes, I was staring at him. He can speak. How? Ella's reaction is exactly like mine. But instead she is crying and now she is trying not to sob. The atmosphere was horror for the both of us. Even me...I'm lost for words. Slowly, I become distracted and drift into sleepiness.
Angelina
It's so awkward to be with Taehyung especially when he got nothing to talk about. I sigh as I start brushing my teeth aggressively because I hate the awkwardness between us. I miss our friendship. I clean myself once I'm done and change into comfortable clothes. I jump on the big bed, and check my phone for the tenth time since past 30 mins. No text from him. I throw the phone away and decided to check on Taehyung until I hear a loud bang. I flinched in the hallway, a hand placing on my chest. Then Taehyung peeks from the end of the hallway, with wide eyes.
"Was that you?" We asked each other in unison, our faces showing bewilderment. I flinched again at the loud sound, which this time sounded like someone had punched the door.
"Tae.."
"Stay there." Taehyung walked over the door and peeked through the hole. "Huh." I found myself cowering behind him, as if I were a frightened puppy. "There is no one here." He muttered. A metallic sound caught our attention as a letter slipped through the gap at the bottom of the door. Without hesitation, Taehyung drew his gun and quickly opened the door. There was no one.
Anxiety gripped us as we paced around the living room, trying to figure out who could have left the letter. None of us dared to touch it or speak. Taehyung opened the door again to check. Still no one.
"Just open the letter!" I shouted, my sudden outburst making Taehyung step back in surprise.
"I can't."
"What? Why can you not? A ghost gave us that letter, might as well freaking open it!"
"It's Jimin's, so I can't!" Taehyung yelled in frustration. Seeing my confused look, he sighed. "This fabric is specifically for our work. The number on it is Jimin's, and the red colour means only he can read it. He winch.
"Oh, my god. This is a bad thing?"
"Yes," He nods. "He is not here, and as curious as a I'm, I can't open it."
"But, Tae...wouldn't they have given it to him directly if it's...important..?" He considered this for a moment.
"You're right. This is the first time they've thrown a letter like that."
"Taehyung..." he looks at me with soft eyes. "I think you should check the letter...if it contains a threat to Jimin, you could warn him in advance." He nods to every word I say. But then he stopped and spoke more firmly.
"No. This is Jimin's letter. And we'll wait for him to come and read it. Let's go to sleep, Honey." What?
"Huh—" Taehyung placed his palm over my mouth. And a finger on his lips. I nodded. He turned off the light, and I heard him moving around, making rustling sounds. I stood there, waiting patiently, as he returned to the living room. I noticed the curtains being drawn, and then saw a faint light coming from Taehyung's hand. He moves the light to a paper he wrote before, I read,
Don't speak. They could be spying on us.
As long as I nodded he tore open the letter and began reading. I noticed the handwriting is very different—classic and difficult to decipher. I struggled to make sense of the cryptic message. Taehyung's gasps startled me, and I tugged on his sleeve, but he couldn't respond. When I glimpsed his reaction—wide eyes, sweat, and heavy breathing—I knew the letter contained something horrific. We stood frozen, paralysed by fear.
The sudden crash of the door swinging open startled both of us. We jumped, eyes wide in shock as the hallway light activated automatically, illuminating our faces. Jimin's terrified expression, panting and sweating dripping from him like crazy at the doorway.
"They...an unknown number called me..." Jimin was at the verge of breaking down. If not for the door's handle, to balance himself, he would have fallen down already. "And...I knew something wasn't...right."
"What did they tell you?" Taehyung asked calmly. But he was shaking. I think everyone was shaking..
"Nothing. Just...screams."
"Jimin..."
"No...NO!" Jimin broke down on his knees, tugging on his hair, screaming. A sob left my throat at the sight of him. I had to hide my mouth and sit down on the couch. I know nothing what's going on but those two know. Jimin leaves from the floor, stomping towards the letter and snatch it from Taehyung's hand. Jimin's screams were full of pain. He was wailing on the floor, hugging the letter with his fist.
"Jimin!" Taehyung tried to get him to stand up but couldn't.
"I hid her far away! H-how?! How did they find her?!" Jimin's eyes were red and filled with a mix of panic and anticipation as he stared at Taehyung.
"Jimin, we don't know if she is alive, please don't assume—"
"Taehyung...don't you remember one of the boss's best escort who stepped on his feet by accident, the next day he sent his wife's feet at his doorstep?" I shiver. What kind of boss do they have? Taehyung remained silent. Oh, god. "They will kill us all...we'll never have the chance to be happy in our life...Why her Taehyung? What have I done?" I shiver when Jimin's eyes meet mine.
It took Jimin long to fall asleep on the couch. Taehyung had to lift him up and drop him on his bed. Then, Taehyung explained, she was Jimin's lover. He promised her a good life at the place he hid her. He told her to wait for him meanwhile she enjoys her life.
The letter was her location. That was all in the letter.
