sua scoffed, unsure if she'd heard him right. "y-your sister? is here? like, right now?" donghyuck nodded, still standing on the opposite side of his room.

the noirette dragged both hands through her short hair, slowly processing the situation. she was about to meet a member of her boyfriend's family for the first time completely unprepared.

"beau, please. you can't leave me alone with her."

"why? what's wrong with her?"

"she's scary!"

sua blinked hard, trying her very best to maintain her cool. "hyuck, she's gonna hate me!"

donghyuck finally approached his girlfriend, standing close enough to see her shoulder's visibly shaking in fear. "no, no, beau, trust me. she's like johnny in the sense that they both like small cute things. she couldn't hate you if she tried." he exhaled and extended a hand to the noirette. "which is why you can't leave. please."

sua looked at the boy, gaze flickering between his clearly desperate irises. she dropped her hand into his and gave it a squeeze. "fine. but you have to let me borrow some of your make-up."

"but you never wear—"

"i can't look like a wet rat in front of your queen of a sister!"

hyuck chuckled, amused at the rising pitch of his girlfriend's voice. "you haven't even seen her yet." sua locked eyes with the boy. "i just know."

rolling his eyes, haechan led the petite girl to his bathroom and pointed out where everything was. sua's eyes bulged at the number of cosmetics he was able to fit into one bag.

when he finished explaining, the noriette faced him with soft eyes. "why do you have so much? you don't even need any make-up..."

the boy blushed, turning his head away bashfully. "shut up, yes i do."

sua pouted and dropped her head against his back, giving donghyuck a tight back hug. "no you don't. you're so so beautiful without it. whoever said otherwise can fight me." she felt his chest vibrate with a laugh.

"you're too tiny to fight someone. nice try, though."

sua kicked the back of his knee, causing donghyuck to flinch violently in shock. "o-ow! in sua, what the heck?!" but the noirette was too busy wheeze-laughing at her attack to answer.

using her laughter weakened state to his advantage, hyuck messily collected the girl's arms in his hands and walked towards sua until her back hit the doorframe. still laughing, sua looked up at the boy eyeing her dangerously.

the noirette wore a large, toothy grin as she chuckled, and haechan cocked a brow. he lowed his mouth to her ear, and that was when the door swung open.

"lee donghyuck!" hyuck pulled away with startling speed.

"lee dongsook!"

sua turned towards the doorway, and sure enough, a woman who appeared a bit taller than her stood with cherry red-rimmed sunglasses on and a grimace on her lips.

"ew no. i hate that." her pretty lips pulled into a sly smirk. "oh! this must be the lucky lady~"

"uh—"

"lee doyeon." the woman greeted, removing her sunglasses to reveal a raised and perfectly plucked brow.

"you're super cute! i can see why my brother likes you. honestly, i thought you were in love with mark... what is it, in sua?" sua nodded, too stunned to speak. "sua's good too!"

donghyuck scoffed, running a hand through his fluttery blond hair. "pfft, don't be stupid. the love of my life is obviously moon taeil."

sua raised a hand to playfully swat at the boy, but stopped when she remembered his sister was literally right in front of her. the noirette turned scarlet red and tucked her hand behind her back, to which doyeon chortled. "oh, please do. better you than me."

the girl gave her boyfriend a barely physical hit, and the guest rolled her eyes. "you're too sweet, omg. when my brother called me asking for a summary of the fault in our stars, i knew something was up."

sua's head naturally turned towards her boyfriend, a faint pink color dusting her cheeks. "you actually texted her?"

hyuck glanced at his girlfriend, face equally pink as he scratched at his nape once again. "uh, yeah. for the balcony thing, of course." a bright smile crossed the noirette's face.

"aww, how cute," doyeon's teasing voice rang in sua's ears. "god, i just love being single."

about an hour had passed since dongsook—doyeon arrived, and sua was starting to like her. the more comfortable she got, the more hyuck's sister reminded her of hyeseon... just a bit more aggressive. the three had already talked about little things to break the ice and were now on the topic of friends.

"i already know the members, but what about you, sua? who are your people?"

silently admiring the way doyeon said friends, sua began listing them off. "well, i have two roommates. one of them is studying in london right now, but they're twins. min hyeseon and min huiseon."

hyuck's sister nodded, and sua smiled. "there's another, but she doesn't live with us. heo ryuhwa; she lives on the tenth floor with her sister. the four of us call ourselves the demise."

doyeon's lip quirked upwards, "the demise." she mused. "sounds evil. i like it."

the noirette chuckled, silently brushing her thumb over donghyuck's knuckles. "yeah, well, when we were in high school, they used to annoy me. instead of calling them the death of me, i said they're my demise." sua looked down momentarily, smiling at the memories.

"eventually it caught on. we became best friends and i guess the other students started finding us annoying."

after more talk about the demise, doyeon grinned. "i think i like this ryuhwa. she seems a little mischievous."

sua giggled, sparing a glance at her boyfriend, who was staring intensely at the previous dance practice videos on his phone. "she is. but she's also really kind. they all are."

brushing some of her pretty umber curls out of her face, doyeon pursed her lips. "i don't speak with my friends from high school. they weren't sincere with their intentions, so i cut them out of my life." though her voice was very sharp, sua could hear the sadness creeping.

"good. i'm sure they didn't deserve you, anyway. you're too cool."

doyeon peeked up at the younger girl, who wore a comforting smile. "and if you want, the remaining demise and i might hang out tomorrow."

an honest, almost shy smile kissed the elder's lips. "sure. i think i'd like that."
