Summary
Reader is Les' older sibling and sings him to sleep.Reader POV
"But I'm not tired," my 9-year-old brother complained.
"Your body needs rest," I gently chided, "How about this: You go lay down in bed and try to fall asleep, and I'll sing you a bedtime song?"
"Hmmmmm....okay, but only because I like it when you sing," Les agreed. I picked him up and carried him to bed. He snuggled into my arms. I smiled and began to sing:You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are gray.
You'll never know, dear
How much I love you,
So please don't take
My sunshine awayDespite his protesting, the boy in my arms was half-asleep already. I continued on:
The other night, dear
As I lay sleeping,
I dreamt I held
You in my arms.
When I awoke, dear
I was mistaken,
And so I hung
My head and
I criedThe supposedly "not tired" boy was now fast asleep. I kissed his forhead and laid him down in his bed. "I love you, Les," I whispered, tucking a stray strand of (h/c) hair behind my ear, "Never forget that."
