"will joshua-hyung really be okay with this?" minho asked, doubtedly using the motion activated gun to fight the mafiosos off. it was not guilt-free, but it was definitely working.
"we're probationary seventeen! we are allowed, calm your tits!" hyunjin laughed, obviously having fun flirting with the enemies—and them being completely under his spell after a wink or a smile.
"he don't have no tits. those are tiddies." jisung advised, shooting at the wall with two peculiar guns from joshua's lab. he was not testing it out; he could see the people beneath the wall and he was killing them from his place, effortlessly.
"hey!"
"that's not funny!"
"but chan hyung, you're laughing!"
"yes, i am." momentarily, the odd group laughed at bang chan's statement. "i assume they got their abilities back. will they be able to handle it?"
"hey!" hyunjin answered, defensive. he looked ag bang chan with so much disbelief. "don't you trust him? he even broke us out of jail and convinced seokmin-hyung to let us live in his estate for a month or so! he's great!"
"in a fight, once the plan is carried out and they're just eliminating the excess people who're on the bad side," minho stated, growing out vines to tie up the injured mafiosos all together. "every one is fighting for themself. if you get injured in any way, your teammates will have to finish the task first before tending to you."
"hmm, but he has an ability though? and it's impossible to finish him off with that transparent ability thing!" felix protests.
"but seungcheol-hyung—you see, he gave his ability to chan. lee chan."
in shock, hyunjin disparages the current situation and lets bang chan fight the mafiosos off. he turns to minho. "you mean.. he's charging straight ahead, to those scumbags.. with only his gun? what?!"
"i wish i could be able to do that," bang chan said, in envy. jisung wanted to protest. "at least he leads his team to victory, unlike me."
betrayed, jisung answers bang chan with tears in his eyes. hopefully, they went unnoticed. "that day, only we were supposed to get caught, but you turned yourself in. you didn't act like you were special all throughout our life together, and you included yourself in every up and down of our lives. stop talking like that."
jisung hates anyone who speaks ill of bang chan. and yes, even bang chan himself isn't excluded. there was no need to compare, because they are both great. and if they were to ever hate themselves, their members would strictly oppose.
apparently, koushi's people had no abilities. koushi swore to be the only one exposed to danger, and he will almost never let his special squads out here. but, because yi-eun is releasing all the people in his archives to destroy the world while he's dying, koushi had no choice but to let out his classified special combat squads.
but, there was a betrayal in squad 9.
hitch, changbin, jeongin and seungmin were supposedly just mundanes intensely trained to fight mundane underlings, too. but, seungmin turned out to be a spy of yi-eun, and he deeply injured their squad leader hitch.
apparently, seungmin had an ability.
"don't get too close!" jeonghan exclaimed, protecting squad nine behind him. jeonghan lets the other members fight seungmin off. oh, can seungcheol step down too? "we need hoshi. hoshi! hoshi!" the elder shouts into his wrist, wanting to be heard by soonyoung.
"we're busy building the city back here!"
"we need you to find out about something. track me, and read the mind of kim seungmin. he's near us. ask woozi to help you transport yourself here." jeonghan says, watching seungmin and seokmin engage in a sword fight.
"hyung," jeongin calls, gulping. "is hitch okay?"
"yeah," jeonghan looks down, noticing that jeongin was still worried about their leader. "she's.. i don't know how to put it. i can't put her into fatality, because.. she's long gone."
after about a minute of blades clashing and worrisome comments being made, soonyoung spoke into the earpieces. his announcement, at most, was shocking.
"what i'm about to say—"
"just get on with it!" they heard jihoon yell.
"okay! that kid.. he was kidnapped and he was forced into having an ability. they injected... samuel's dna in him.. and they sent him to w systems to become a spy."
it was seungcheol who stopped fighting first, dropping his weapon and calling soonyoung down. he watched seokmin and seungmin stare intensely at each other as they fought—until soonyoung contained seungmin and made him sit down.
unable to move, seungmin angrily shouted at seventeen and to his two squadmates. "release me! i have a task! i'm busy, so just let me do me!"
"do you have any idea how i loved the boy.." seungcheol asked, falling to his knees to level his face with seungmin's supposedly angelic face. "..who you got your ability from? he never used his ability unless needed."
"i do!" retorted seungmin. he was clueless. he didn't know who samuel was, personally, because he was—"he's dead! get over him, okay! it doesn't matter how he used his ability before now!" and seungmin didn't get to know him because he was gone too soon.
"it does! it does, because that's a part of him!" seokmin added, pointing his blade to seungmin's neck. thought jeonghan didn't personally know samuel, he can feel how these two felt. "do you want me to kill you, huh?!"
"you could've, earlier!"
"and we're definitely not because you have the last trace of samuel! you have the last trace of the boy we waited for so long, but it turns out it's with some worthless scumbag like you!" seungcheol says, tears brimming his beautiful eyes. "do you know, how it hurts to lose someone?
"that boy. samuel. he was the brightest boy to ever exist, and to find out that he died and you disrespected him like that? it hurts. knowing this information right in the middle of a situation where i could possibly lose more people i love? it's unnerving."
"i know how it feels," said seungmin, eyes darted down to the cement. "i lost myself to yi-eun."
"what are we going to do with you now, huh? we can't kill you, nor can we set you free!" seokmin asked, dropping his blades on the floor without effort. he was tired.
"hyung..." jeongin stepped forward, close to tears as the seventeen members were. "so what were the things that you told me? and changbin hyung? were they lies? did we all laugh and smile at stories that you just.. made up?"
"fuck you." changbin strongly added, right before seungmin added anything. "do you know how much i adored you, because you were so strong, and how you never cried? i idolized you, seungmin. this is embarrassing."
"guys.. i didn't even mean to get close to you in the first place." seungmin says, and he immediately regretted it as soon as he said it.
only sounds of sobbing, things getting teared apart, and shaky sighs followed after. equally, all of them were betrayed. not just in terms of sides—fuck that. they got betrayed by their companion, friend, and by the world.
jihoon sighed. "see? this is the very first thing i said when i was about to get into seventeen. i didn't want a family, because family causes pain. and what now, were you happy because you had a family and the bliss was over? did you deserve all the pain? just for having a christ forsaken family, huh?"
"shrimpy." soonyoung scolds.
"it wasn't. but, when my teammate died and moved to the evil side, did you ever see me walk away?" jihoon added, stubbornly. "no. i dived right back in, like the fool i was. a fool, in love."
