"hyung, you set criminals free." chan says, eyeing the three men behind seungcheol. they were wearing navy jumpsuits with numbers on them, and if chan didn't know that they were criminals, he'd suspect them as kpop idols about to do a comeback stage. "why?!"

"shh," seungcheol says, tossing clothes to the three fugitives. "wear them and dispose your previous clothes, i'm going to pay." seungcheol shoos them away, leaving him and chan alone in the middle of a department store.

"and why did you call me here?!"

"we're going to be a little rebellious today." seungcheol smirks, handing a gun to a reluctant chan. first: marriage and family, now, crimes?! isn't that what seventeen is trying to put an end to?! "soonyoung helped me brainwash the workers in the supernatural correctional center, since he supports these kinds of ways—but i'm quite doubtful if i ask you to help."

"hyung, i will help if it's for a good reason. you just set criminals lo—"

"chan. listen to me." seungcheol took chan's shoulders, staring straight into chan's eyes. ever since, chan saw seungcheol as a guy who fights for what's right. heck, he even took a bullet for chan! what's this, all of a sudden? "hey! look at me!"

"what, hyung?!" chan grunted, fuming. "what happened to you?"

"i was a criminal." seungcheol smiles, but it doesn't feel the same. it's not like his usual, comforting, happy smile. it's almost sinister and similar to junhui's smile when he's feeling a little too excited to kill. shit, is seventeen corrupted? "but—wait, listen. i'll tell you the whole story."

"choi, what is wrong with you?" the superintendent scolds a frail seungcheol, face full of bruises and cuts from the perp. "your division is not for stakeouts like that. you're in modern crimes. stop sticking your nose in things that you're not supposed to be involved in!"

seungcheol grits his teeth, looking at his shoes as the superintendent continued to rant about his heroic deeds. if he hadn't put his life on the line, facing the perp armed with a gun earlier? the police wouldn't have succeeded in capturing that goddamn perp.

"it seems like your father is right." the superintendent says, looking out of the window. seungcheol took this chance too look at his back and bore holes on it using his piercing gaze. "you are indeed promising, your performance is good, but you're too stubborn. do you want to be demoted, choi?"

"no, sir!" seungcheol looks at his lap instantaneously, biting his bottom lip to hold himself back from doing anything stupid. from revealing his ability. "i apologize for today's events!"

"it better not happen aga—"

"superintendent kim, i'm taking a leave for three days!" seungcheol states, voice stern and clear. "i need to clear my mind, sir!"

the superintendent turns around, looking at seungcheol. seungcheol doesn't bother meeting his gaze, in case it would come off disrespectful. "clear your mind from what?"

"frustrations, sir." seungcheol replies. the superintendent gives him a word of agreement, before he was dismissed.

seungcheol walks out of the building—stomping out, rather—angrily, eyes almost dark in rage and fists turning white in frustration. you're wrong. i wouldn't have done those things if you put me in the right division.
