"don't kill me. you're going to make a fuss in the office, and the supernatural world is exposed once again." yachi smirked, turning to aim her gun at mingyu. she thinks that she's in control, when two ability users surround her. "which one do i shoot first?"

a gunshot echoed in the whole floor. right after, shrieks and rushed footsteps were heard. of course, they'd be scared. the one who shot the gun was among them, mirae. she has hot blood with mingyu—but she didn't shoot him, no.

"hello," mirae waves, standing behind mingyu. "i'm an ex-mafioso from fukuro mafia. i used to work in their orphanage. i know this kid quite well." mirae points at wonwoo, who was on the flood, bleeding. yes, she shot wonwoo.

"thank you." yachi's smirk was back on her face, walking over wonwoo to come closer to mirae. "we are basically colleagues, you know. not just in this magazine. you also he—"

"no," mirae shoots yachi. after a while, yachi joined wonwoo on the floor, also bleeding out. meanwhile, mingyu sneaked behind mirae. "i shot wonwoo because he's causing huge trouble in the office, not because i want to be a part of the supernatural world anymore. and oh, i shot you too because i hate you."

"okay, well, bye bye." mingyu tore off a page from his notebook. as the piece of paper became a taser, mirae was turning around. "this will hurt." mingyu lunged towards mirae and eletrocuted her.

mingyu sighed. a success! it's generally easy to get rid of mundane people, but mirae holding a grudge against yachi made it easier. well, mingyu hated mirae so, whatever. karma, he guessed?

he did not know there were mafiosos in his previous work environment, though. if mingyu knew earlier on, he would've fired yachi and mirae. he also shouldn't have made yachi take over the magazine!

mingyu felt wonwoo's shoulder brushing against his. the taller's eyes then widened, and immediately went to wonwoo to support him. mingyu placed wonwoo's left arm around his shoulders, while mingyu had a secure grip on his waist. he was careful not to touch the gunshot wound.

"you're helping me, again," wonwoo spoke, voice husky. obviously in pain. "this is why i got in trouble."

"but you did the right thing back there in los angeles, so i helped you. it just means that the real wonwoo is still in there, somewhere." mingyu chuckles, leading the both of them to the elevator. "i wasn't lying when i said that i know you before."

"i did that to save my favorite gelato s-store," wonwoo said, adjusting himself to a more comfortable standing position. he kept on pressing against the wound to stop the bleeding. "i don't really care about doing good."

"then you stand with yi-eun's planned world order?"

"it's quite a dumb objective. i don't care about mundane people, but sometimes they're quite annoying. i won't kill them for that though." wonwoo admits, making mingyu laugh. it felt like the old times. "but i do it out of respect. they give me all the luxuries and money, plus, they took me in when i lost my memories.

"they said i lost my memories because of koushi, but that reason is not quite believable. yi-eun changes the story everytime i ask him why i can't remember anything else from my past."

the elevator dings. mingyu leads wonwoo to his car. "then, go to seventeen." mingyu opens the car door, guiding wonwoo inside the passenger seat. mingyu ran around the car and sat on the driver's seat, before he continued. "we're going there now, anyways."

"n-no," wonwoo says. mingyu stops whatever he was doing, and turns to wonwoo with a confused expression. wonwoo's pale face was painted with anxiousness. "i don't want to. i don't trust those guys y-you call teammates. i encountered two of them and they could definitely kill me."

"so does that mean you trust me?" mingyu raises an eyebrow, testing wonwoo. the poor man was getting interrogated to death. "why do you trust me?"

wonwoo shut his eyes tight, as if he was wincing. mingyu took the hint, driving out of the basement in a panicked way. "sorry! sorry! i'm driving!"

"yes, i trust you. you said you knew me before. a-are you happy now?" wonwoo asks, momentarily opening his eyes to glare at mingyu. mingyu huffs. "probably a bad idea. but, back in hawaii, you approached me with sincerity all over your face and voice. then i got a call, it was a mission to kill you when the guards dragged you out. i discarded that sincere but jaundiced approach of yours since i won't be needing it if i need to kill you."

"but wonwoo, seventeen knew you too. very well, actually." mingyu says, going past the speed limit to go to the hospital faster. "wonwoo, i will tell you something about your past. are you ready? promise you won't do anything ridiculous?"

wonwoo nods subtly. "ok."

"wonwoo, you were a part of seventeen. one day, we woke up without you and when we checked your bedroom, it's full of your blood. the cctvs also show someone dressed in black breaking in your room." mingyu states. every passing second, he gets anxious, since wonwoo didn't give a reaction yet.

"wonwoo, i don't know what happened, but i think yi-eun kidnapped you and made us think you were dead." mingyu says, glancing once at wonwoo. "i hope you take this seriously and face seventeen someday to tell us about what happened to you. we can also bring your memories back. we have someone to help you with that."

"wonwoo?"

"wonwoo!" mingyu exclaimed, reaching for wonwoo's thigh. mingyu shook it a little, before retracting his hand and placing it on the steering wheel.

"i heard you." wonwoo says, inhaling sharply. "i don't know if i should believe you."

"i can wait."

wonwoo paused, pressing his palms firmly against his wound. "are you sure this is n-not a trap to kill me later on or something?"

mingyu chuckled, turning to the right. he sees the hospital and pulls over. this caused wonwoo to open his eyes. "nope. we're here, you see?" mingyu opens the door, walking around the car to go to the passenger seat's side. mingyu opens the door and looks down at wonwoo with a smile. "i won't be here after i send you in. is that okay?"

wonwoo nods, as mingyu slipped his arms under wonwoo's knees and on his back. mingyu lifted him in one go, before walking to the emergency room. "it's okay."

"alright."

"mingyu? that's your name, correct? it's not a codename?"

"yeah?" mingyu looked down at wonwoo, but wonwoo's eyes were shut tightly. "my codename is 97."

"mingyu-ssi," wonwoo says. "this is why i trust you."

mingyu almost stopped walking, as his eyes welled with tears. he blinks them away, walking faster to the emergency room. as soon as they reached their destination, nurses crowded around them. a stretcher was provided, so mingyu sets wonwoo down on it.

as soon as wonwoo was on the stretcher, mingyu was going to go to the desk to fill some forms—but wonwoo grasped mingyu's wrist. the action made mingyu's heart hurt again.

"wonwoo, i have to go."

"thank you." wonwoo mutters, almost inaudible. mingyu was unable to answer. wonwoo lets go of mingyu.

"alright. i-i'll see you soon." mingyu walks away, to go fill out some forms. after he finished, mingyu walks back to his car, chest completely filled with emotions. he knew he was going to burst soon.

jeon wonwoo sure is something else.
