"mingyu, joshua sent me the cctv footages of waikiki beachfront hotel's lounge cameras. actually, joshua sent it to every seventeen member we still have contact with. minghao, joshua, jeonghan, seokmin and jihoon expresses their frustration over you." seungcheol informed, as mingyu just watched seungcheol speak on his phone screen. "why did you walk away?!"

"because wonwoo doesn't know who i am." mingyu kicks the sand, upset and angered. "who did that to him? we all thought he was dead!"

"oh my god." mingyu watched seungcheol's expression changed, the video getting delayed by a few seconds. "mingyu, i think you should follow him."

"i can't. i'm too tired right now to put up with this shit," mingyu sniffles, wiping a tear away. "fuck. the sand's getting into my eyes." mingyu reasoned, making seungcheol's expresssion soften. mingyu groans, hanging his head back to prevent himself from getting emotional.

"it's okay to cry." seungcheol says. "but are you going to give up now? he's there, sitting right in front of your nose. you can take a rest now, but please, don't take a rest forever and just let this case go. wonwoo is one of us, will we just let him go like this?"

"yes. i want to move on." mingyu says, even if he misses the raven-haired boy so deeply. mingyu misses meeting him at five in the morning reading something while sitting near the kitchen, their smart person to dumb person conversations, wonwoo's delight to discovering new things like gelatos and cars—he misses everything about wonwoo.

"then you're pathetic." seungcheol's face turns stoic on the screen, getting mingyu a little swayed. "how dare you tell me that you miss wonwoo so much and you want him back? now that he's back, you claim that you're tired and you want to let him go?"

"then i'm pathetic!" mingyu shouts over the phone. seungcheol only shook his head. "fuck."

mingyu threw his his phone on the sand, to bury his face in both of his hands. mingyu cries. what the fuck am i doing? i should catch a flight back to korea. mingyu tells himself, but his tears doesn't stop pouring.

mingyu feels someone poke his forearm. so, mingyu looks up and finds a hand holding out a handkerchief. "i'm sorry that i don't know you."

mingyu's eyes widened, as he took the handkerchief and wiped his tears. "w-wonwoo—! u-uh, you should go. i'm sorry for doing that." maybe you're living a new life too, and you don't want to deal with supernatural things anymore.

"it's okay, maybe you got a little too overwhelmed. where do you know me from?" wonwoo asked, sitting on the sand, just beside mingyu. "you seem like a good person, but you approached me in a rather jaundiced way."

mingyu chuckled a little, calming down. "that was embarrassing." mingyu sniffles, the small smile playing on his lips were still there. "we were workmates before, you just disappeared suddenly."

"ah, i'm suffering from memory loss, since i had a bad accident about a year ago. my girlfriend told me everything she knew about me, though, she might've just missed you on the list." wonwoo smiled, making mingyu turn to look at him.

girlfriend? everything necessary? "where did you meet your girlfriend?"

"oh, in hawaii. she's from europe, though." wonwoo's eyes sparkled as he talked about this girlfriend that he blabbers about. mingyu was just suspicious. "she knew me for quite a while before i had the accident."

now, mingyu smelled something fishy. he glanced at his phone on the sand, and gladly, he saw seungcheol's face still on its screen. mingyu hoped that seungcheol heard everything that wonwoo said, and that the connection was not too crappy.
