Close To Perfect Christmas

I swing onto the wall before jumping off and hitting a kidnapper to the ground, shooting my webs over him to pin the guy down. "Now's not really a good time." I say as Harry had been on the phone in the middle of the kidnapping I was trying to stop.

He speaks nonchalantly,  "All I'm saying is, last night was the most fun I've had in months—"

I jump onto the car and try to pull the trunk open but am shot from behind. "Really—?" I grunt as I jump and swing a kick into the other kidnapper, him hurling to the ground, "I find that hard to believe, you didn't even skate." I put myself on mute through my mask, "One sec, I'm on a call." I tell the man who fumbled for his gun.

"Well—Yea but honestly... Ever since Eddie left it's been so boring around here." Harry groans, in his tone it seemed that he had slumped down in whatever he was sitting in. I was surprised he hadn't heard what I was doing but he probably wasn't paying attention anyway.

I shoot a web at the kidnapper's gun and pull it away, throwing it off somewhere behind me. "Right. I can imagine." As much as I felt bad for Eddie, still didn't enjoy hearing about him. "Not having a Christmas Eve party?"

Harry sighs, "No... I don't really feel like inviting anyone if I did."

"You are pretty last minute with your invitations..." I jump back onto the top of the car and shoot an instant web behind me to catch the other guy. I assumed it worked as I pulled the trunk open and a girl stepped out.

"Thank you." She said shakily as I put myself  back on mute.

"No problem, you need help getting back?" I ask.

      "No... I got it."

I give her a nod before jumping onto the side of the alley way's wall and climbing up to the roof.

"Anyway..." Harry starts, "are you sure you don't need a job Pete?"

I wonder why he keeps insisting... We hadn't talked much before... Suppose he's trying to fill the spot Eddie left. "Yeah, man. I'm doing fine at my job right now... I'll—be sure to call you if I do."

"Alright," he breaths, "I'll see you later Pete."

       He hangs up.

Should I tell him to stop calling me that?... Eh, it's not worth the effort. What time was it? 5:30 PM, ok that's enough time to pick up MJ's present that was from a small jewelry store in Brooklyn. It was Christmas Eve but I hadn't had the chance to pick it up yet. It also took a while to come in. I was already on the way but I got an alert about a kidnapping... Hopefully I can get to the store without any other attacks happening... Hopefully the rest of the day wouldn't have any other attacks but I doubt it.

I stop short of the shop and put on my street clothes, feeling the brisk cold air in its full force. Snow falls gently in the alley as I put on my winter coat.  I walked out of the alley and down the sidewalk that was pretty empty for New York. The sun had almost set though it was hard to tell with the clouds that covered the sky. Nonetheless, I'm walking down it only for a block before I walk into the small corner store.

Upon walking in, the wood floor was a rich mahogany, a glass table in the center with rings and other jewelry. Other jewelry lined the room, and at the back of the small space was the cashier. A brunette woman who was pretty young compared to the older man who I made the order with. She leaned against the wall on her phone before putting it in her back pocket when she noticed me looking at her. "Hey-"

"What can I do for you?" She asks, coming up to the counter and leaning onto it with her elbows.

"I have a pick up under Peter Parker." I say, looking at the wall of earrings behind her.
