A New Face (KAI PARKER AND READER)

It was time to leave, in the middle of the night. I needed to say goodbye to Stefan and Damon. My 11 year old brother, Damon, was my favorite out of the family. I understood him and he understood me, we were both hated and unwanted, we bonded over that hatred. He was going to be the one I'd missed the most, I hope I'd be able to see him with a family one day, with a girl that he would love all too much.

Then there was Stefan.

Oh god, I was jealous of him. For the past 5 years Damon had been giving all of his attention to Stefan and didnt want to spend as much time with me anymore. We sometimes spent time together, all three of us would play hide and seek until Stefan would hide in fathers office and we wouldnt know what to do. He was young, he didnt know the dangers of our father and the yelling of our mother. Damon used me as an escape whenever father would get loud and physical with him. I didnt care if he had only been using me for an escape from reality, it felt nice to comfort my brother in his time of need.

Now it was time to say goodbye, I slowly walked to Damon's room. Avoiding the squeaky spot in our old wooden floor. I opened his door and he quickly blowing out a candle and lightly threw his book in the floor, pretending to be asleep. I quietly giggled as I closed his door and walked towards him. I set my hand on his head and rubbed my thumb.

"Hey... it's just me, you know father would've stormed in here." I said extremely quiet. He turned his head over and his eyes caught the bag on my back.

"Where are you going, y/n?" He said worried.

"I'm uh... I'm going away for a while." I said with a sad smile on my face, my eyes slowly filling with tears.

"No- you cant leave me! What about fath-" His voice started cracking and started to squeak. I shushed him nicely.

"Take care of Stefan for me, ok? Hes going to need your protection against father. Even if hes favorited, he'll need you. Ok? You'll be an amazing big brother." I said as tears flew down my face, his eyes watered and he reached his arms up and hugged me.

"Please, y/n. Dont leave, I won't be able to do it without you." He whispered in my ear and I pulled away.

"You'll do just fine, alright? Just try and stay out of fathers way, and always be kind. Your heart is pure, and even if you arent in a good home you'll be able to get through it. I'm leaving before he can hurt me or sell me off, little one. I've been in the place for 19 long depressing years. You'll be ok." I said then kissed his forehead lightly. He sobbed quietly as I let him go. I stood up from his bed and walked to the door.

"I love you, baby brother. Be safe, and if I were you I'd get faster at blowing out that candle." I said with a sad smile, he smiled as tears ran down his face and he buried his head into his pillow. I closed his door and then took a deep breath in and out, I walked to Stefans room. As much as I despised him, I loved him and he loved me, he deserves a goodbye.

I opened his door and he was sound asleep. I walked over to his mini bed and leaned over to kiss his forehead. When I pulled my head away he woke up.

"Y/n? Why are you hear?" He said awfully loud, I shushed him too.

"I'm leaving, ok? Please do not tell father that I have left. I must leave him, he isnt good for me or for you."

"Are you coming back?" He asked, his beautiful green eyes looked sad.

"No, little brother. I'm not coming back." I said as my eyes once again filled with tears.

"I'm going a miss you big sister." He said reaching his arms up for a hug, I leaned down and gave him one.

"I love you, little guy." I said quietly in his ear.

"Love you to sister." He said, I slowly laid his head down and wished him a goodnight. Then walked out of his bedroom slowly closing his door.
