A deafening silence prevailed inside the auditorium. I stood frozen. I vacillated, unsure of what to do. I gaped but there's no words came out of my mouth because of abruptness. What on earth was going on?
"C-Calcium . . ." Kavin uttered with a trembling voice, breaking the silence between us.
Did I hear it right? He's Calcium?
"I'm pleased that you still know me," Calcium replied. His voice was obnoxious. "I thought you were allegiant to our organization. But surprisingly, you turned your side on them. I was actually disappointed with you, Potassium. Of all people, I can't—"
"Let me correct you, Calcium," Kavin abruptly cut him off. "Una pa lang, wala sa inyo ang allegiance ko. It's just that . . . I can't do anything back then. Pero ngayon, mayro'n na. Get ready, Calcium, kasi pababagsakin namin ang organisasyon n'yo. Pababagsakin ka namin!" pakli ni Kavin.
"Catch me, unravelers!" he said, emphasizing the word 'unravelers' then quickly ran away.
Karaka-raka siyang hinabol nina Kavin at Harith habang naiwan naman kaming tatlo sa madilim na auditorium. Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala sa nangyari kanina.
Synesthetes' Game?
Sa mga oras na 'to, batid ko na hindi madaling bigyan ng hustisya ang pagkamatay ng papa ko kasi hindi lang isa ang makakalaban namin kung 'di marami.
Napaupo na lang si Delaney. Bakas sa kaniyang hitsura ang takot. Marahil ay dahil iyon sa sinabi ni Calcium sa 'min. "Ayaw ko na, guys. I quit!" she began without looking at us. "W-Wala naman akong maitutulong sa inyo, eh, kaya aalis na lang ako," dugtong pa niya.
Rufus turned his gaze at Delaney. "Like it or not, you're already part of the game, Lani. Once you play it, there's no turning back," he told her while crossing his arms across his chest.
Tumingin naman si Delaney sa direksyon namin ni Rufus. "But, didn't it occur to you guys that I don't like it—the game as what you call it—before dragging me into this madness?" hagkis na sagot niya. May namumuong luha sa kaniyang mga mata.
I was caught off guard. What did she just say? Madness?
Well, she's right. We didn't ask her if she liked it or not and if she's okay with it before taking her into this game, madness as what she called it.
"S-Sana sinabi mo kanina," wika ko sa kaniya.
"Pagkasabi ni Rufus na kakalabanin natin ang school director ay gusto kong lumabas saka tumakbo kanina. But my legs didn't seem to cooperate," tugon niya.
"But Calcium, that masked guy we chased earlier, already knew about you. Even if you quit, we can't guarantee your safety," Rufus interposed, persuading my roommate to not quit. 'Cause even if she would, she's still in peril.
