Is There A Doctor In The Building?

July 19th, 2017. This Tuesday started out like any other Tuesday, but it was about to be very, very different. I woke up next to Adam, and we weren't late to work. Good ass start to the day!

The team went to go after this prick who was selling these massive illegal guns, referred to as 'cop killers'; so that doesn't make me nervous at all. (Sarcasm). Hank stayed behind with Antonio while the rest of the gang went out to canvas and interview people. I needed to talk to Hank, and considering the circumstances, he seemed to be in a half decent mood, so I took the time alone to talk to him. I walked to his office, "excuse me? Hank?" I said as I knocked.

"Yeah Regan?"

"Can I talk to you about something quick? Not life or death though.."

"Sure, sit." I walked in and sat on the wooden bench in his office.

"So... Hank." I cleared my throat, and a wave of nerves came over me. I told Adam I'd tell Hank about us.. but damn, it was fucking terrifying. "I know you like open and honest communication in the team, especially from me.. after last time..."

"Yes Regan..."

"And well.. I promise I haven't been and won't start distracting him. Adam and I.. we're kind of a couple.." I looked down at the floor and gulped. Terrified to look up. I finally did, and Hank was sitting down; I have no clue when that happened.

"When did it start?" He asked.

"Just recently!" I cleared my throat again. He sighed and I nearly shit myself before he finally spoke again, a hint of a smirk, "well Callahan.. if it's gonna be anyone on the team, I'm glad it's Ruzek. You'll be good for him, better than Burgess.. don't repeat that." He winked before he continued. "And he'll be good for you too."

"Well... thank you, Sarg.. Hank." I smiled. "That's all. Thank you!" I said before I left his office. He chuckled at me as I left. I got back to my desk and let out a massive sigh. My heart beating normally again.

A few minutes later, Adam and Kevin came back with lots of 'somethings' to tell the team about, as he started to tell Antonio and Hank, I caught myself staring at him.

He looked really good today. Hair styled perfectly, jeans, and a flannel shirt that was rolled to his elbows. Lord help me.

When he was done, he walked over to me, but I was looking at my computer, so I pretended not to see him approach. He knocked on my desk, and I smirked at him. "May I help you, officer Ruzek?" I said in the most seductive way possible.

"Don't do that to me at work.." he bit his lip.

"I told him!" Changing subjects to calm him down.

"Oh! How'd he take it..?"

"Fine actually! Said he's glad it's you.. that we'll be good for each other!" I smiled.

"Good!" He winked back.

Before he walked away, I got a Skype call from the university. I shushed him away and put my earbuds in. He stayed and wanted to know who it was, so I wrote it down, and he got excited.

"Hello Dr's. How are you?" I asked the group of elites.

"We're well Ms. Callahan, thank you!"

"Good!" I replied with a smile. Shushing the guys away with my hand, out of sight.

"I trust you're working hard with Intelligence this morning?" My adviser, Director of the Forensic's Department asked.

"Yes ma'am!"

"Your defense, and paper were both excellent! We were all moved by the passion in your defense. We could see how invested you were in this topic, which was unique and relevant, much like your master's thesis.. which we all read as well." The president of the university said with a smile.

I smiled back, "thank you very much doctor." The other doctors all chimed in with comments about my paper, and defense. I smiled, but was nervous as fuck. They could've loved everything but still not grant me the passing grade to take my boards and graduate my program next month.

"Well Doctor Callahan, thank you for your time."

"Thank yo.... wait. what did you call me?!" I asked with teary eyes.

"Doctor. Congratulations!" They smiled warmly.
The tears fell, but I quickly stopped them with a sniffle, "oh my. Thank you... thank you all very much!"

"Congrats Dr. Callahan! Your board exams will arrive next week, via email from the same website. Please take them promptly.. just for ease of doctor-ship sake! You know the drill!"

"I will! Have a good day!"

When I hung up and looked at my guys standing there, I let the tears fall again. "I did it...the Doctor is in the building! Dr. Regan Callahan at your service.."

"Re! That's amazing!! Congrats!" Adam said as he embraced me in a hug, and kissed the top of my head.

"Congrats!" The other guys chimed in.

Jay, Haley, Kim, and Sean walked up the steps.
"Regan did it! She's a doctor!" Adam exclaimed when they reached the top of the stair case.

"That's amazing!" Haley squealed as she came to hug me.

"Congrats Callahan!" Jay, and the others said.

"Thank you all! Oh! I have to call my mom, and SVU!" Hank shook his head in approval and I did just that, had my mom on my phone and I Skyped the SVU team.

"Mom! I did it! Your daughter is a doctor!" I said with a shaky voice.

"AMAZING, sweetheart! I am so beyond proud of you!" I could tell she was crying too. "Sorry.. I'm Skyping SVU too!"

"Oh hey Callahan!" Sonny said when he answered. I called the person most likely to answer a Skype call.

"Where are the rest of the guys?! Can you get them, please?? I know y'all ain't busy!" I laughed.

"Alright, okay. I'll get em!" He said back. He got up and walked away, leaving me on the screen.

"Thank you mom! I'll video chat you tonight, and next time I'm back in NYC, we'll celebrate! Okay.. I love you too mom!" My mom hung up after praising me some more over the phone. Carisi came back and had the gang with him, Liv, Finn, Amanda, Dodds, and Barba.

"Hi everyone! Okay.. so, I have news." I tried to keep my voice calm as possible.

"What's going on?" Mike Dodd's asked.

"Well.. guys." I started trying to look sad.

"Oh no.. what?!" Finn asked.

"You're not just talking to me, Regan Callahan, you're talking to DOCTOR Regan Callahan..." I paused for a moment before I smiled.

"OH MY GOD! Regan! That's amazing!" Amanda cheered.

"Congrats kid!" Finn smiled.

"Amazing! So proud, Callahan!" Barba added.

"Us too!" Dodd's and Liv smiled.

"Thank you all, SO much! Sorry I interrupted, I just HAD to tell you guys too! Miss you crazies!"

"We miss you too!" They all cheered. I blew them kisses and they returned to their own desks. I smiled as I closed the lid to my laptop.
