Back In The Big Apple

After another month at intelligence, it was finally summer. I received a call in late June from, now Lieutenant Benson. She said they were working on a serial rapist and needed my help. I went and had a talk with intelligence, before agreeing to help SVU. "Call me if you need me! Should only be a few weeks. Okay? See you clowns later!"

I winked before I ran down the stairs as I saw Adam chasing me. "Callahan!" He said when we got to the bottom of the stairs.

"Can't talk Ruzek! Gotta go," I laughed as I waved to Trudy and headed outside.

"I gotta give you this first.."

"Wha....." he grabbed me and kissed me. I felt my heart skip a beat as I grabbed the back of his head.

"Wow. Uhm.. What the fuck was that for?!"

"The way you look at Kevin.. look at me like that Callahan. See ya when you get back..." he smirked and walked back inside. I caught my breath and called for my Uber to the airport. 

When I arrived at JFK, I was met by a sexy blonde kid with piercing blue eyes, it was Dominick Carisi. He was holding a sign that read, 'Regan Callahan- future doctor.' I laughed hysterically when I saw it.

"Hi Sonny!" I smiled when I approached him.

He took off his sunglasses, "hey there Regan!"
He said with his thick Staten Island accent. I liked him.

"Are you my ride?"

"Yep! I'll be taking you back to SVU!" he gestured toward an awaiting car.

"You guys are too funny. I'm totally capable of catching a cab or Uber," I laughed.

"This is faster," he said when he got in his car and finally looked at me. His pupils dilated. That was fast. He sighed, "sorry.. guess I can slow down now that I found ya." He smiled.

"Well okay then! Let's go!" I smiled back.

We arrived at the district and I promptly put my stuff at my desk and went to meet the team. I locked eyes with someone whom I hadn't seen in a few years. "Rafael Barba," I snickered when he approached.

"Regan.. nice to see you. Heard your staring your doctoral program in the fall. Congrats."

"Thanks Rafi." I replied. I made eye contact, and his pupils dilated. I knew mine did too.

"You're working this serial with them?" He asked.

"Yep.. don't know how long I'll be here, but told Chicago team at least a few weeks.."

"Yeah.. I image it'll be that long, especially if they don't find him right away. He's tricky.."

"I heard..."

"Okay guys! Thank you! Talk to Regan if you have any questions" Olivia smiled when she was done with her speech. I smiled at her as she passed.

"Get a drink with me tonight?" He asked when we were alone in the middle of the room.

"Rafi.. I just got back." I paused for a moment. "So I won't be ready till at least 9:30.." I winked. His eyes went wide as he shook his head 'yes,' and walked away.

I went to work on the profile for this serial rapist and actually came up with two possible ones (which happens from time to time); I told the squad who they were looking for and what to expect from him. Barba had gone back to his office, which allowed me to focus.

My profile allowed them to find two solid suspects and bring them in for questioning. It always feels good to have my work validated. I was able to watch the interrogation from the other side. Carisi was next to me, as Amanda and Finn were going at the perpetrators. "Sonny?" I asked innocently.

"Callahan, how can I help ya?" He said as he turned to me. He had his arms crossed, allowing his veins to pop. Lord.. give me strength.

I panicked, as I hardly ever do the asking, but I did it anyway, "I was wondering if maybe you'd like to get dinner sometime?" I bit my lip and batted my lashes slightly.

"I would love that," he smiled gently.

"Great!"

"Saturday?" He continued, thankfully.

"Saturday works.."

"Great! I'll cook dinner actually, if that works? I'll give you my address," he rubbed my arm. He came back with his phone and I entered his number and address in mine. I was warm and cozy back in the big apple.
