Izuku couldn't help but feel a bit nervous.
Why did he think that taking his crush to a dance was a good idea. He knew very well that he couldn't dance, so why he thought bringing Ochako to a formal dance would be a good idea was beyond him.
But, then he remembered that it wasn't his idea, it was Iida's.
Iida was a very formal and academic-minded person, so OF COURSE he thought that a school dance was a perfect way to confess. And, since Tenya was Izuku's best friend, he agreed to the idea without much thought. He was starting to think this was a bad idea, despite how logical Iida could be.
But, there wasn't much he could do about it now, seeing as he was standing in the courtyard of the venue, waiting for Ochako.
"Deku-kun!"
The bubbly voice of the brunette broke him from his thoughts. "A-ah! Uraraka-san! Thanks for-" His face turned crimson as his eyes fixated on her.
Ochako was wearing a poofy pink and white dress that reminded him a lot of her hero suit (especially given that it was a little tight, showing off her hourglass figure). She was also wearing white tights and black flats to go with the dress.
"D-Deku-kun?" She asked worriedly. "Are you okay? You froze for a minute..."
"Uraraka-san... you look beautiful." He panicked. "N-not that you d-don't usually! You're a-always very pretty! I don't stare or anything, b-but-"
She giggled, cutting off his frantic babbling. "You look very nice too." She was blushing slightly.
He relaxed a bit (as much as Izuku can relax, anyways). "Shall we head inside?" He asked, attempting to pull of a British accent.
The brunette snickered. Ochako nodded, matching his accent. "We shall."
Izuku blushed as her hand gently brushed against his. They walked inside.
Izuku gulped nervously as he saw the filled dance floor of graceful couples from their school and staff.
"I should probably mention..." Ochako started nervously. "I can't dance."
Izuku couldn't help but feel a slight release of figurative weight from the relief he felt. "Neither can I."
There was a pause.
"Then why are we at a school dance?" It wasn't an accusatory question, she more so was genuinely curious.
"... I got the idea from Iida-kun." Izuku admitted sheepishly.
Ochako giggled, making Izuku's blush darken. "You asked Iida-kun for advice?"
He rubbed the back of his neck. "I wanted this to be perfect, and Iida-kun is smart, so..."
Ochako beamed. "That's... really nice, even though Iida-kun isn't the most romantically savvy of people."
"Yeah... probably should have asked Kirishima-kun, since he actually has a boyfriend and all..."
There was another short silence.
"It's loud in here." Ochako remarked.
"Yeah, it definitely is..."
She turned to face him, her rich, chocolate brown eyes glimmering. "Should we go back outside?"
Izuku nodded, following her lead.
"I-it's nice out here." Izuku stated softly.
Ochako looked at him again, her expression pensive.
Izuku grew nervous. "U-um... Uraraka-san?"
She took his hands for real this time. "Let's try dancing."
His face was on fire. "B-b-but y-yo said you d-didn-"
"That's why we should try together!" She smiled. "We both have no idea what we're doing!"
"T-that sounds fun! Let's try!" Izuku agreed, returning her hold on his hands.
For the first few minutes, the pair just swayed awkwardly. After getting comfortable, they began moving around slowly, their movements growing less clumsy as they got used to each other's movements.
Though, while they were starting to ease into the dance, Ochako's hand moved slightly, her fingertips pressing against his hand.
Izuku's emerald eyes widened as his feet lifted a bit off the ground.
"O-oh! Sorry, Deku-kun!"
Izuku smiled, letting out a breathy laugh. "This... this is cool, Uraraka-san!"
She seemed surprised, but nevertheless, quickly matched his expression, giggling and spinning the floating boy around as their dance became less formal.
They stayed like that for a long while, until Ochako released her quirk to give herself a break.
Izuku led her underneath a willow tree where they both sat down.
"I... really like spending time with you, Deku-kun..." Ochako blushed.
Izuku gulped, readying himself. This is it! I'm gonna do it! I'm gonna confess!
"And... I was wondering... if you'd want to do this again sometime... as an official date?" She finished with a hopeful tone.
SHE BEAT ME TO IT!
Izuku was speechless for a moment, but he gathered himself quickly, not wanting to give her the wrong idea. "I'd... really love that, Uraraka-san..."
