SymBrock: Wedding Ring

(A/N): I found this idea a while back on Pinterest and I can't get it out of my head, so here we are. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the original picture, so have this comic I found!

Also, sorry about the delay. I kept forgetting to write.

Eddie did his best to smile as Annie walked down the aisle.

He did his best to nod encouragingly to Dave when he slid the wedding ring on her finger.

He did his best to applaud as they kissed to seal their marriage.

He was happy for them.

At least... that's what he told himself.

"That was a nice ceremony, huh V?" Eddie murmured as he hopped on his motorcycle and rode back to his apartment.

Up until then, the symbiote had been quiet and it was beginning to seriously unnerve him. Eddie had, for better or worse, grown used to the alien's presence.

I did not understand what was going on, but the people there looked most appetizing.

Eddie felt himself relax upon "hearing" Venom's voice in his head.

"I told you about it months ago." Eddie deadpanned. "And stop calling people 'appetizing'."

And you expect me to recall everything you say?

"Okay. You have a point." The brunet relented, parking the motorcycle and walking haphazardly into his apartment complex. "So, you remember how I said what a wedding was?"

Partially. A wedding, according to you, is a union of a pair who love each other, yes?

"Pretty much, yeah." Eddie nodded, heading up the stairs. "We were at Annie and Dave's wedding."

Are weddings meant to be upsetting?

Eddie frowned, pulling out his apartment key. "No; what gave you that idea?"

I am within you, Eddie. I feel what you do.

Eddie blushed heavily, opening the apartment door with in unnecessary amount of force. "Don't! Don't say it l-like that!" The man stammered.

He felt Venom become confused. Why?

"You made it sound like we're..." Eddie awkwardly moves his hands to show Venom what he meant. "Y-you know what I mean!"

The symbiote did not know what he meant and as amusing as Eddie's frantic explanation was to him, he decided to be generous and give the human a break. We veered off topic. What about the wedding we attended was upsetting?

Venom felt Eddie relax. "Oh right... it's not a big deal, so just forget it, okay?" Eddie took out a pack of tater tots from the freezer before haphazardly putting them on a tray and sticking them into the oven.

Preheat, Eddie. Venom reminded him lightly. If an emotional matter affects you, I find it important. I will not simply 'forget about it'. He continued.

The symbiote felt his human become embarrassed.

But after a few seconds of waiting for the oven to preheat, Eddie spoke. "I... I know Dan's a good guy and all, but... him marrying Annie makes me remember that I don't have anything like that, y'know?"

Venom paused. For a moment Eddie was confused as to why he suddenly shut up.

We are together, yes?

The question confused Eddie. He wasn't sure what exactly Venom meant. "I mean... we share a body and eat bad guys together, so... yes?" He answered hesitantly.

Venom provided no immediate verbal response, instead he particularly materialized himself on Eddie's hand, specifically his ring finger.

Eddie's eyes widened comically as he realized what the symbiote had done. "VENOM!" He screeched, his face on fire. "WHAT THE F-"

What? We are together, as you said; besides, these "rings" are a symbol of affection, are they not? Venom responded shamelessly.

Oh. That's what he meant by together.

"B-but we're not a couple!" Eddie protested. As much as he liked the idea of him and Venom being a thing, he didn't want Venom getting himself into something he didn't understand.

You said that we are together and we have mutual feelings of romantic interest in each other. What is there to stop us?

Eddie froze. Venom... liked him back?

"Relationships aren't easy. We'll both have to put in a lot of work." Eddie started.

I am aware and willing to put in effort.

Eddie bit his lip. "But... I'm not opposed to going on a date with you. No marriage yet though! I don't wanna rush things!" He finished firmly.

Can I stay as a ring?

Eddie blinked. "Do you like being a ring?"

YES.

"I..." Eddie smiled in spite of himself. "sure."
