(A/N): This is another request from the lovely Flaming_SaiiboAce !

Also... I put Steven x Connie in the title because their fusion is called Stevonnie; sorry for any confusion that may have caused!

Warnings:

"I've never been to a school dance before!" Steven exclaimed excitedly.

"Didn't you also say that you've never been to school itself?" Connie questioned with a grin.

"Yeah! That just makes this whole thing more exciting!"

Connie giggled, glad Steven was so excited.

She just wished she felt as pumped as he did.

"I need to get ready! I'll talk later!"

"Okay! Lion will get us to the dance in style!"

Connie giggled. "Looking forward to it! See you then!"

Connie sighed as she hung up the phone, her cheeks heating up as she imagined the rumors that would no doubt surround her after the dance. She tried her best to ignore her nerves as she pulled out her pastel blue dress from her closet.

I hope Steven will like it!

"Connie!" She saw the curly haired boy outside her window, waving energetically to her.

She beamed, running down the stairs to meet him.

He looked like he was about to greet her, but he froze, his face turning as red as the tie he was wearing. "Connie... just... WOW..."

Connie felt herself blush. "I take it I look alright?" She giggled.

Steven nodded vigorously. "Y-you look amazing!"

He's so cute. "You look pretty handsome yourself." She replied bashfully.

Steven rubbed the back of his neck, smiling softly down at his sandals.

There was a moment of silence before Lion huffed at them impatiently.

"... I think he wants us to go." Steven laughed awkwardly, hopping on his back.

"Ready?" He extended his hand to Connie, who nodded and took it without hesitation.

***

"You know... when you said dance, I was expecting more dancing." Steven admitted. "This is just a bunch of fancily lit talking." (A/N: I've never been to a school dance, so I don't know much about them; so sorry if this is inaccurate)

Connie flushed sheepishly. "The dancing's supposed to start pretty soon."

Coincidentally, right after Connie spoke, the blaring pop music over the speakers quieted to a less ear splitting volume as it slowed down.

The people previously messing around on the dance floor cleared away and migrated to the snack tables. Couples began to appear out of the woodworks and started slowly swaying with each other.

Steven perked up. "The dancing started! Connie, shall we?" He asked in an exaggerated accent to seem posh.

"I... sure." She decided quietly, allowing Steven to pull her onto the dance floor.

"Um..." Steven awkwardly started shuffling around, trying to copy the movements of the other dancers. "Why are they all dancing so slow?"

Connie pursed her lips, her eyes darting around at the other couples. "Steven, maybe we should just go." She didn't want to deal with the condemning stares of her classmates.

"But we just got here!" Steven objected. "We can't just-" He stopped himself, his lips pressing into a grin.

Connie knew that look. "What's the plan?"

"Let's just dance like we usually do." Steven suggested. "I think I have it under control after that."

Connie frowned. "You think? Steven, people are already staring at us."

Steven's smile widened. "Just trust me. I've got this!" He assured her.

Connie let out a breath. "O... okay. I trust you, Steven."

So they began dancing, not the way everyone else was dancing, but the way they wanted to.

As the stares turned to murmurs of confusion, Connie felt herself grow... suddenly, the words and looks didn't bother her.

Connie felt herself release a laugh as she spun around, it was a more mature laugh than her voice was able to make.

That made her come to a realization. She wasn't just Connie right then.

She gasped, pausing to see her (much shorter looking than she was accustomed to) classmates staring at her... not in judgment, but in awe.

She got to see things from Steven's perspective, a way she rarely was able to fully see.

Steven... thank you... for everything.

(A/N): Sorry if this was a bit bland. I was a bit unsure of what to write for it.

But thank you all for reading it anyways! Have a great rest of the day.
