"I'm ready for the worst, so frightening, face whitening, fear that you can't reverse"
Emily looked over at you, dropping her go-bag to the floor. You chuckled, "So are we finally having a girl's night? If so I need to find a sitter, or are we going with gossip night?" She gave you a faint smile, running her fingers through her hair. "We do get to have a girl's night, but I want your advice on the case we're starting tomorrow." You nodded holding up one finger as you grabbed your phone, trying to find a sitter last minute was going to be tough.
After 5 sitters rejections, you groaned softly looking over at Emily. "Em, I can't go." Emily grabbed your phone, "You are going, you need to loosen up. You're forgetting someone, Reid" You bit your lip, debating if he could watch her. "Fine, I'll call him you get the files." You dialed his number, tapping your foot as you waited for his answer.
"Hi, little one," His tone was playful and soft, "You aren't getting laid tonight," you heard a soft groan come from the phone before continuing "Can you watch Bella tonight? Please, it's girls' night and I can't find another sitter." He laughed softly "How did I know? Of course, I'll watch her." You smiled telling him when you would drop her off and when you should be home before hanging up.
You turned your attention to Emily, watching how she flipped through the files. "Okay so, 3 homicides all in town." She started, setting the file open on the coffee table. You curled up on the couch next to her "Em, how could I help with......" She cut you off before you could finish your question "I have a hunch, now victimology is 3 males, early thirties, white, with brown hair. You see what I'm getting at" You nodded slightly, surrogates for Spencer. "Now what I know is the M.O, that is distinctly Devin's, single shot to the back of the head, execution-style."
You knew it had to be him, no matter where the bodies ended up. It was him, he always made sure whenever someone touched what was 'his', they never lived to tell the story. "Where were they found?" You were waiting on bated breath for her answer, the news of the case haunting you. "A local cafe, the park where you met him with Bella, and the Smithsonian" her words only confirmed your suspicions, he was there for everything.
"Em, if anything happens to Spencer, I don't know what I would do. I need him in my life, you heard what I told Devin a month ago. If he says it's me or Spencer, I'm going with him, don't try and talk me out of it. In my closet there's a shoebox with important places to him in the states, start there if something happens."
She looked back at you, "Y/N, I can't do that," she started, closing the file before trying to reason with you. "Emily, you can and you will. You'll find me, I know you will. I don't want anyone else hurt, he wants me." You explained, "Please," You pleaded, looking back at her. She sighed but nodded "I'm going to regret this but go get ready" You gave her a soft smile, before heading to your room to get ready.
You knocked on the door lightly, debating on what you should say to Spencer. If you said the wrong thing, he wouldn't let you leave. "Hi" you whispered as he opened the door, "Are you sure you can't stay over" You tilted your head at his words, "Did Emily tell you?" He shook his head, "No, should I know something?" his words were laced with concern as he looked down at you.
"No, it's nothing, uh I'll see you tomorrow Spence." You lied, faking a smile at him, hoping he wouldn't see through you. It hurt for you to lie to him, but if you told him the truth, he would take your place. You felt his lips against yours, pulling you back to reality. The kiss should've excited you, made you want him. All it did was break you, make you regret your decision.
You pulled away slowly, debating on saying those three words, "Bye, Spencer. Emily's waiting" You muttered the words, not wanting to leave Spencer. You wanted to scream that you loved him. The words stuck in your throat, you bit your lip before turning away and heading downstairs to meet the ladies of the BAU.
A stray tear fell down your cheek as you got into the backseat, "Em, let's get wasted please" She wiped at the tear falling down your cheek. "Are you sure that's the best idea?" You laughed softly at her question, "Em, please. I need to get my mind off of this. It's not like he's going to make his move tonight."
Garcia's laugh filled the air surrounding you. "Tell me, have you and boy wonder made it official?" You chuckled, sipping on your margarita, "I don't know if I should say," Garcia shook her head, "You have to tell me, I won't tell anyone" You smiled before nodding "Yes we have if you must know, now how about another round?" you slurred out, as you finished your drink.
The girls nodded, Emily following after you as you weaved through the crowd to the bar. She had been making sure you were safe all night. "Em, come on, go have fun with JJ, I don't need a babysitter to get drinks." "Y/N, I'm not leaving you alone" She insisted, leaning against the bar as you ordered the round. Emily placed her hand on your lower back as you carried the drinks back. You placed them on the table, smiling softly at the ladies.
You bit your lip, feeling eyes on you. "I'll be right back, I just need some air" You excused yourself grabbing your phone from the table, making your way outside of the bar. You heard the door open, "Emily, I'm fine-" you started as you turned to the figure leaving the bar. "Princesse, je ne suis pas Emily (Princess, I'm not Emily)"
