"What a beautiful day," Hurrem Sultan said happily as she walked into my room. I smiled brightly at her as Mihrimah Sultan walked in after her mother.
"How are you feeling, Meylisah?" Mihrimah Sultan asked smiling softly at me. I grinned and looked down at the bundle in between my arms, a healthy son came into this world screaming his lungs out merely an hour ago.
"Thank Allah, I am fine" I answered making her nod and turn to look at the child in my arms. I bounced him softly as he started to whine slightly but he immediately settled back down and let out a big yawn as he fell asleep.
I looked up from my handsome boy as the doors opened again and Selim walked in still wearing his hunting outfit, the Sultan took the princes out with him hunting before they were scheduled to return to their sanjaks soon. My labor came a little early in unexpected time one minute I'm looking at fabrics and the second I was on my bed screaming like I was being murdered.
"Welcome my lion, come look at your son," Hurrem Sultan said happily as Selim walked closer to the bed I sat upon with our son in my arms.
"Are you okay?" Selim asked as he sat down beside me on the bed. I nodded grinning and leaned forward. Selim took our son in between his arms slightly shaky in fear of hurting the small babe, but when our son didn't burst out crying Selim pulled him closer hugging him to his chest.
"Father will name him soon" Selim informed us not taking his eyes off of our son. I couldn't blame him, he was the most beautiful child I had ever laid eyes on, he was perfect and worthy to be called a Sehzade.
"May Allah grants him a long and healthy life," Mihrimah Sultan said. I mumbled an amen. I reached forward and patted my small Sehzade's head as he slept soundly. His small hand was covered in a glove so he won't hurt himself with his nails, he didn't have many layers on because it was the middle of summer.
After a while, the Sultan joined us in my room where the naming will be held. I had covered my head when the Sultan and his other sons stepped into the room, it was a perfect time to have a child since all of the Sehzades were present which I'm sure Selim liked, despite the throne's fight they were still his brothers and he obviously took pride in our son's birth after Nurbanu lost her own son after her fall.
"His name with the will of Allah shall be Murad" Sultan Suleiman said making me smile proudly. The name Murad meant 'desired' Murad was a desired grandson, Selim's firstborn son.
"What a beautiful name" Hurrem Sultan complimented watching proudly as the Sultan prayed in Murad's ear before handing him to Selim who had changed into more suitable clothes after much begging from Hurrem Sultan to let Murad go.
"Now Osman and Orhan have a playmate" Sehzade Bayezid said making us chuckle. Selim handed me, Murad, again.
"I think they have to wait a couple of years, at least until he learns how to walk" Sehzade Mustafa joked making us all laugh again. I loved seeing the Sehzades pushing their differences aside for at least a minute, them acting like brothers made my heart flutter.
"My son will be running by tomorrow" Selim joked. I shook my head as the Sehzades barked a laugh. I looked down at my sleeping son who wasn't bothered by all of the noises around him.
"Yes, a strong horse of the Ottoman Empire" Sultan Suleiman chuckled patting Selim's shoulder before he left the room.
"Congratulations, Meylisah. His my nephew as my sister's son, I disowned Selim the moment you joined us" Bayezid Sehzade joked stepping closer to me and placed a brooch in the shape of a blue eye to protect Murad from the evil eye of others.
"Hey!" Selim explained pulling Bayezid back with a playful glare on his face. I laughed at his expression and Bayezid's fake horrified one.
"We've been caught! I'm leaving you to take care of this lunatic alone" Bayezid said before running out of the room causing everyone in the room to burst out laughing as he let out a scream on the way out.
"And here I thought you all grew up," Hurrem Sultan said rubbing her temple before leaving the room with a sigh of disappointment, obviously not with her sons just with their weird humor.
"Rest now Meylisah, we will check up on you tomorrow," Sehzade Cihangir said. I smiled and nodded my head at him as he left with Mihrimah Sultan.
"Take care of her Selim" Sehzade Mustafa said patting Selim's arm before he left the room. I smiled as Selim joined me on the bed.
"I still can't believe he is here with us" Selim admits placing his finger in Murad's hand who immediately wrapped his fingers around Selim's thumb in a tight fist.
"I can, no more kicking and sleepless night," I said making him laugh and pull me into his side. I laid my head on his shoulder as we watched our son's face scrunch up in his sleep, dreaming.
"He has brown hair like you" Selim pointed out touching Murad's hair, there was barely anything but the color was still obvious under the candlelight.
"Guess we will have to try again for red hair," Selim said winking at me. I nudged him in his side making him laugh and kiss my forehead.
"I'm proud of you. You endured so much, my love" He whispered leaning his forehead against mine. I sighed closing my eyes enjoying this moment with my lover and son.
"May Allah grants you and our son a long life" I whispered back. Selim leaned down and kissed my lips softly.
"This is the best day of my life" Selim admit rubbing up and down my arm. He knew that even though Murad has finally graced us with his birth but I was still in so much pain and I still have a long way before I am back to how I originally was and that was not on the physical looking part only the pain.
