"Why did Selim ask for me here?" I asked Esma as we stood in a room facing the small marble clearing of the Manesa Palace. Esma shrugged her shoulders as a way to show that she didn't know. I sighed and rubbed my swollen stomach feeling my child kick against my hand.
Selim stepped out of the palace and sat down on his princely throne with his viziers waiting for him beside the throne and the second he stepped out the viziers bowed to him. I sighed and watched as his turban representing his status as a prince glimmered under the sunlight because of the many jewels sewed on it.
"I know that many of you are wondering why you have been asked so suddenly to come here" Selim began after he had sat down and fixed his robe on the throne. The viziers rose to form their bowing and looked at Selim in confusion. The head Vizier stepped forward and gave a small respectful bow.
"Is it something dangerous, your highness?" the vizier asked worriedly. Selim smiled a little and his gaze moved to the room I was in. I leaned against the window and looked at him suspiciously but of course, he couldn't see my expression so far away from each other.
"Just a traitor needing to be punished by the orders of his majesty and I," Selim said. He turned to his right. I also turned to look in the direction he looked at and was met with something I have been waiting for, Nurbanu being dragged by two guards in a white dress like a criminal. My plan had worked which made me smirk.
-Flashback-
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Esma asked as we stood in the kitchen alone. She had faked a scene in the kitchen with made everyone in here run out to help with something. I opened the bottle in between my hands and looked down at the blue liquid inside.
"Yes, I have to do this for the sake of Murad and my unborn child. I poured the liquid on top of the plate on the table in front of me. This was Selim's plate that they had prepared before they left. I felt really guilty but I needed to do this, I need him so deep in sleep that even if an explosion happens beside him he won't feel.
I sat up in bed and looked beside me at Selim who was snoring softly as he slept, the medicine that I had given him almost immediately made him drowsy and he fell asleep in less than fifteen minutes. I ran my fingers through his red and unique hair, a small smile appeared on his face which made my heart flutter but I had to remember that I was a woman on a mission. I pushed the covers off of my body and pushed my pregnant body off of the bed.
I walked over to Selim's desk where papers were organized neatly and his seal was sat in its box. I sat down on the couch and picked up the feather Selim writes with, I unscrewed the ink bottle and dipped the feather inside of the bottle. I took a deep breath and began writing and at the same time keeping track of the time.
"Dear Father, your majesty the magnificent Sultan
I am writing you for advice over an order I find myself conflicted over. My old favorite tried to murder my beloved wife, Meylisah, I have been wondering if you would allow me to end her life for such a horrible crime over her superior, Meylisah Sultan, my wife and the mother of my son Murad, your grandson, and our unborn child.
Nurbanu had almost succeeded in her crimes if it wasn't for the loyal maid Handan, she almost deprived Murad of his child and me of my wife, she had almost taken my unborn child from me before I could hold him or her in my arms. Father, I beg of you to brighten my world with your wise and trustful words. I beg of you as your child to consider the fact that Nurbanu had once was pregnant with my child too who she lost stupidly, she had made many mistakes and broke many harem laws.
My dear wife has been very humble over the incident and has told me to keep this crime a secret in fear of Nurbanu's death, she thinks that Nurbanu is only hurting the loss of her child and my attention. I disagree, I think that the traitor should be executed for attacking a Sultana and putting a Sehzade or Sultana in danger. I will await your answer impatiently with anxiety in my body in fear that Nurbanu will escape from prison a second time and hurt my darling Meylisah.
