I walked out of my room with Emira Kalfa beside me. We walked down the harem and out of the castle where we met with Hurrem sultan and Mihrimah sultan. We walked up the steps to the imperial tower where we would be watching prince Cihangir's coronation.
I stood beside Mihrimah sultan and looked down with a smile as people filled into the marble clearing where the coronation will take place. They placed the throne in the middle under the shadows where the sultan will be sitting and that meant that the coronation will begin shortly.
"What is she doing here?" I heard Hurrem sultan ask angrily. I knew she meant Mahidevran sultan so I ignored what happened next knowing it won't be pretty and I was in no mood for fighting right now.
We watched as the sultan walked out with Cihangir making everyone bow to them including the other princes. Cihangir took his place in front of the throne where he will make his vows.
I frowned a little as he started to stammer but he was still able to finish the bow with the help of the sultan and Prince Mustafa.
"Congratulations, sultana, our brave prince now holds a real sword," I said turning to look at Hurrem sultan with a small smile which she returned with a proud one.
"Thank you, Meylisah" she said. She walked out making us all bow. Mahidevran Sultan rolled her eyes and walked out after her leaving me and Mihrimah alone in the tower.
"What do you think of him, Meylisah?" Mihrimah sultan asked stopping me from walking out of the room and turn back around to look at her in confusion.
"Who, Sultana?" I asked walking back over to the window and looked down at the many men down there.
"Ali Pasha," she said pointing to a man probably at the end of his thirties. He already had white hair and his beard was quite long.
"Why are you asking sultana?" I asked turning to look at her weirded out, since when did she look at other men than the ones she liked at the moment and are usually not her husband.
"Nothing, I heard that he was widowed last year and is searching for a new wife and he is a supporter of my mother's so he's probably on her list to marry you off to" she shrugged and walked off. I and Mihrimah have always gotten along until she married and after that our meetings were brief. I felt like she was enjoying me getting the same fate as hers.
I walked out of the imperial tower and back to the harem and straight to my room not wanting to see or hear from anyone. Mihrimah just ruined this beautiful day for me just to feed her own ego that she wasn't the only victim to her mother's hunger for power.
The whole day I sat in my room refusing to leave even when Hurrem sultan asked me to join her and her children for dinner, I said that I wasn't feeling well and wanted to rest a little which resulted in her coming over to check up on me.
I jumped as the doors to my room were slammed open. The maid helping me get ready almost dropped the perfume bottle I just handed her after applying some on my skin.
I turned to look at the person to see prince Selim. I bowed along with everyone in the room.
"Leave me alone with Meylisah hatun" he orders them. They all looked at each other before bowing and leaving. This was a bad idea, Selim, I didn't trust any of them and I'm pretty sure one of them was a spy to his mother and she would be on her way to tell her.
"His majesty chose me," he said gleefully. I looked at him confusion before it dawned on me that today they will be told who will go to Manesa.
"Oh Allah, congratulations" I squealed jumping up and down. He stalked over to where I stood making me stop and stare at him since he has never come this close to me before. I squealed as he picked me up and started twirling me around in his arms. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders scared that he will drop me resulting in us both getting injured.
He placed me back down and looked down at me as I stared up at him. We were both breathing heavily from the laughter. I could see him inching closer to me.
"Your mother will be here any minute," I said breaking his trance. He nodded his head pulling away from me clearing his throat as we both blushed.
"I'll be leaving then," he said walking over to the door beside me bed which wasn't the main one and I knew he did that to not meet his mother on his way.
I walked over to my couch and sat down picking up and book and opening it at a random page seconds before the doors were opened without even a knock. I looked up and as I expected Hurrem sultan stood there.
I jumped up and bowed to her as she walked further into my room looking around as if she had never been here before but I knew that she was searching for any trance of Selim.
"I heard that Selim visited you today and asked for you two to be alone," she said sternly. I placed the book down on a coffee table beside me and turned my full attention to her.
"That's right Sultanim" I nodded with a ghost of a smile on my face.
"May I ask why he was here?" She asked stepping closer to me.
"He wanted to check up on me to see if I got better from yesterday and also wanted to inform me that he was chosen to leave for Manesa," I said widening my smile at the mention.
"By the way, congratulations sultana" I bowed my head which she returned with a stiff smile.
"Ahh yes that reminds me to go and chose some new girls to send with him to Manesa," she said and turned around to leave. I tried to not let my smile flatter at the mention of other girls until the doors closed behind her and I was left alone in my room yet again. I closed my eyes tightly and sat down in both relief and grief knowing that even though he loved me he still slept with other women for he was a prince and no one could say anything about him releasing his sexual frustrations on other women especially me for he was not mine.
