Zoe

"Why are we here, and where's Alby?" Zoe asked, as all the kids she'd been living with were crowded into a dark room with a glass screen in the front. She turned, looking to a silent Newt who shrugged in response.

Newt had been her best friend for as long as she could remember, and he rarely didn't have an answer for what was going on.

The screen at the front of the room flashed on, and they watched as the picture of a large field came into view. The field had a forest on one side, and it was completely surrounded by large, grey walls that had to be at least fifteen stories high.

An alarm started going off in the field, and the kids all jumped slightly.

Why were they showing them this? What is this place? What was going on? What did WICKED do this time?

Newt looked down at Zoe with a questioning look, trying to decipher her face, as if she'd figured something out that he hadn't. She looked up and met his gaze again, looking into his brown eyes, searching for just as many answers as he was.

The alarm went on for what felt like forever. The kids in the room were getting restless, shuffling back and forth on their feet, waiting for something else to happen.

After about half an hour of the alarm going off repeatedly, it stopped. The kids watched as two doors in the ground opened up, and nothing else happened.

Everyone was getting tired, WICKED had placed them in the small room without any chairs, and the kids were pretty closely packed, being made to stand for over an hour now.

Zoe looked around, trying to catch the eyes of her other friends, Thomas, Gally, Minho, Siggy, Winston, Kyle, Chuck, Newt, Alby, and Zart. But none of her friends met her gaze as their eyes were all glued to the screen, and Alby was nowhere to be found.

Another hour went by of standing, watching, waiting for something to happen, anything.

People were starting to voice their complaints, and one or two of the kids had tried to walk out, only to be stopped by security.

Ava Paige walked in, smiling at the children.

"Please stay in here, and watch this screen intently, this is extremely important, and you won't take for granted seeing it in the future."

Zoe rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, no one liked Ava, especially her and Newt.

After another hour, another piece of metal moved, a hand pushing it up, and someone slowly looked up over the edge of the metal box in the ground.

Alby

Alby was in a box, in the middle of a field, surrounded by big stone walls.

The kids watched the emotions flicker across Alby's face, they watched as he cried for a few hours before tearing through the supplies that had come up with him, they watched as he jumped when the doors of the large walls closed, they watched him cry himself to sleep in the woods on that very first night.

As the picture faded out, and the screen went black, Ava Paige walked to the front of the room. The kids were tired, they'd been standing on their feet all day, and they'd just watched Alby, a person they all knew and loved, a person they'd grown up with and loved like a brother, face the whole day alone in that prison.

"I know you must all be very confused, angry and frightened right now."

That's when all hell broke loose.
