Stung
Zoe was sitting next to Chuck, eating her breakfast, when Newt finally plopped down next to her. He was winded and didn't look happy as he glared at Zoe for leaving him in the bedroom.
"Look who finally decided to show up."
"I'm not talking to you."
"And why is that?" She asked, cocking an eyebrow and smirking at him.
"You left me back there!"
"Oh please. You need to start getting around on your own!"
Newt just huffed, looking down at the ground, sulking.
"Lovers quarrel?" Minho questioned, sliding onto the bench and bumping Zoe slightly with his shoulder.
"Yeah! They're really going at it. You should've heard-"
"No. It is not a lovers quarrel Chuck, it was merely a disagreement between two friends." Zoe said, cutting off the young boy before he could make the situation worse.
"Ah yes" Minho remarked "a disagreement between two friends... who were sleeping in the same bed together last night."
"How do you know about that?" Zoe questioned, making eye contact with a smug looking Minho.
"Well I just assumed, y'know, since you didn't go to your hammock, or the medjack hut. Aaannnddd Gally was extremely awkward after we heard the noise coming from Newt's room."
"Muah muah, oh Newt, I love you so muuuch."
"Slim it Chuck."
Everyone turned to look at Newt, since this was the first time he'd spoken since Minho arrived at the table. He looked, amused? Embarrassed? Nobody could tell, but what they did see was that he wasn't angry or upset about the conversation, not even in the slightest.
Chuck started laughing, bringing his arms down from the position they were in, wrapped around himself as if they were someone else's arms. Newt chuckled along with him, and Minho eventually began to laugh, as soon as Zoe did.
She hadn't realized how hungry she was until the laughter had died down, and she reached to her right, grabbing Minho's apple and taking a big bite out of it.
"Hey!" He shoved her with his elbow "Ya know what?"
"What Minho. Please inform me." She said, adding as much sarcasm as she could to words.
"You're a complete and total slinthead. I bet, if you had a spirit animal, it would be a slug."
"I bet it would be a griever!" Interjected Chuck, earning a glare from Zoe, and suppressed giggles from Newt and Minho.
"Minho?"
"Yeah?"
"I bet your spirit animal is the creators." She shot back, sending him a wicked smile.
He gasped and put a hand over his chest. "How dare you!" He said, sending the entire table into another fit of laughter.
After the lighthearted moment, Zoe thought about something.
"Where's everyone else?" She questioned, turning to Minho.
"Thomas and Ben are running, Alby is off doing leader stuff, and Gally kinda walked off after he checked on Newt. Well, after he unknowingly checked on you and Newt."
"Maybe I should go talk to him?" Zoe offered, to which Newt served her a puzzled look. She felt awkward saying it, or even thinking about it, but whatever she felt was probably minuscule compared to the awkwardness Gally probably felt. "He seemed really flustered in the room, I'm sure he's just confused, and probably a little embarrassed. I'll go tell him that there was nothing going on, and there shouldn't be any awkwardness between us. Since nothing is going on."
