It was sort of like an arena, though she wasn't sure how she knew what an arena was, but this most definitely felt like one. All of the boys were crowded around the entrance to the box, probably 50 of them in total, while the two other boys watched her tentatively, as if she was a bomb ready to explode, a deer in headlights, trying to figure out whether she should run, or let the force strike her head on. She looked left, then right, she couldn't go right as Kyle was still there, and left, yeah, she'd have to go left.
Two more boys jumped down into the box, rushing to help Kyle with his... situation, the boys gave her just enough of a distraction to sprint left, climbing up the makeshift staircase of crates that so luckily had been placed there.
She took about half a millisecond to take in her surroundings before sprinting towards an opening in the walls.
"SHE'S RUNNIIIIIIIN" yelled someone, drawing out the 'I' to make his voice echo around the field. She heard as the group of boys laughed at his very obvious statement.
What's up with the walls? They've gotta be at least 15 stories high. I just have to keep running, and then I'll be safe, I'll be away from them, from that boy, Kyle.
The thought of him made her want to gag, his vile words making her nauseous.
She could hear footsteps behind her, not one or two pairs of footsteps, but practically all of them, all of the boys were chasing her.
"DON'T GO IN THERE"
This is ridiculous, I'm being chased by a bunch of teenage boys after waking up in a stupid, shitty metal box, and I can't remember my name! All I want is my goddamn name, is that really too much to ask for?!
She kept running, breaking into a forced sprint, she was only twenty feet away from the gap in the huge stone walls, fifteen, ten, five.
"STOP"
"STOP"
"STOP"
She couldn't hear them all, but there were so many boys yelling at her to stop.
Yeah right
She crossed the threshold of the gap, into a place extremely different from the one she'd just escaped, she kept running down the straight stone corridor, her shoes slapping against the stone floors, her eyes grazing over the tall stone walls covered in ivy.
"OW"
She was on the ground, how was she on the ground?
She looked up to see an Asian boy with perfect hair staring down at her with wide eyes.
We must've run into each other
She scrambled to her feet, almost slipping as she tried to create some distance between the two of them.
"STOP HER MINHO"
She turned around to see who yelled from the entrance, letting her guard down long enough for a pair of extremely strong arms to wrap themselves around her, pinning her arms to her sides.
"LET GO OF ME!"
"I can't do that princess"
She kicked and arched her back, doing everything imaginable to get out of his grasp, spewing a few of her own profanities his way. She heard him chuckle a bit as he made his way back towards the entrance with her writhing in his arms, fighting to get out.
"Stop fighting"
"OR WHAT"
"Ooooooorr I'll make you with my witty pick up lines"
She stopped for a second, trying to figure out if this guy was actually serious right now. She was in no way in the mood for pickup lines. Or boys chasing her, or a boy threatening to kill her, in fact, when she thought about it, she wasn't in the mood for any of this bullshit.
She squirmed even more as the boy carried her across the threshold, back to the big field of grass.
"Hey, HEY, stop squirming, no one is going to hurt you"
That voice, that voice was different from the others, it was smoother, nicer, and absolutely heart wrenching. So she did stop, she stopped kicking and thrashing and bucking and fighting, she even relaxed a little bit in the boys arms, looking for the source of the sweet voice with an accent.
The blond boy from earlier stepped a little closer to her, and she tensed again, prepared to defend herself, to fight tooth and nail till she was out of this place, but his brown eyes were soft, and he put his hands up in a sort of surrender while giving her a small welcoming smile.
"We're not going to hurt you" he said "we just can't have you goin in there" he pointed towards to gap in the wall, the large stone structures she'd been rudely yanked out of.
"Where am I? Why am I here? Who are you? Will you let go of me?" She turned around directing her last question to the boy still holding her tightly in his grip. He chuckled, letting his arms slacken and fall to his sides.
"You ask a lotta questions greenie" he remarked still chuckling.
Greenie?
"Greenie?"
Some of the other boys laughed at that, and she realized they were standing in a sort of semicircle around her. She looked back towards the high stone walls, the ivy creeping up the walls.
"Don't even think about it greenie"
She whipped around trying to figure out who had addressed her. She settles on a boy glaring at her from underneath a glorious set of eyebrows, his arms crossed and his lips slightly pursed.
"He's right y'know, you really don't wanna go in there, nobody survives a night in the maze"
This comes from a short boy with a head of dark brown curls, he seemed to be about twelve, and most likely one of the liveliest people here.
Although he'd backed the boy up, he received several glares from the group of boys, including the dark skinned leader and the magnificent eyebrows guy.
The blond took another step forward
"We should probably all introduce ourselves, I'm Newt"
He stuck his hand out patiently waiting for her to take it. She looked down at it for a second before stretching her arm out, letting her hand meet his, grasping it and giving it a firm shake. It was just a handshake, but it was exhilarating, breathtaking practically. He smiled at her and looked over her shoulder at the Asian boy behind her.
"I'm Minho"
The boy that had recently been restraining her now also sticks out his hand, she's a tiny bit less willing to take his, but she does, firmly shaking it. He smiled at her and as she started to turn away she could've sworn he winked at her.
"That's Gally, that's Chuck, that's Zart, there's Winston, and that's Thomas" the blond, Newt, explained, pointing to a different boy every time he said a name. She wondered why he only picked out a few of the boys.
He must be close with them
"And I'm Alby"
The boy she'd assumed was the leader stepped forward patting her on the shoulder.
"All of your questions will be answered very soon, when I give you the tour."
