Warrior Goddess

Everything slows down except for my heart. My protective instincts take over and I have to fight to keep control of Raegor. I'm about to tell Mia to take AJ and flee when a voice is heard from the front of the house. "Alpha Matthews, we don't want any trouble with you. We promise we won't harm the pup if you give us what we want."
"You come uninvited into MY territory and you say you don't want any trouble? You must want something pretty badly. State your demand.", I reply trying to buy some time, any time.

"It's simple really. We just want the luna bitch." My blood turns cold and I'm about to say 'like hell' when Mia replies loud and clear. "That's fine with me." I turn to look at her and find her standing tall, looking like a warrior goddess. She smiles a predatory smile and licks her lips. Oh moon goddess, she's enjoying this.

She takes a step towards the door and AJ steps in front of her. "Mom, there are at least 15 of them. You've never fought this many at once." "I'm always up for a challenge.", She retorts with a gleam of excitement in her eyes. "Then I'll go with you.", AJ says and starts for the door. "NO, YOU WILL NOT!", both Mia and I yell in unison. "They killed my father! If you think I'm going to step aside and let you have all the fun then you don't know me."

Fun? This is their idea of fun? What am I missing? The voice outside says, "You have two minutes, bitch." I want to wring his neck and rip his tongue out for insulting my woman. "Neither of you are going out there. My best fighters are on their way, we just have to stall." AJ laughed. "You don't get it", he says, "you've never seen an dormant fight before. My mom is vicious and merciless, she's fought 10 wolves at once and left them all incapacitated."

I look at Mia and she shrugs, "Then how were these wolves able to kill…?" "I wasn't there. I was in another state dealing some with pack business. If I had been there Jacob would still be alive, believe me." I can tell she truly believes that and she feels guilty for not being there. "Be that as it may, you're not going out there. We don't know how many there are for certain." I try to reason with her but I know she's made up her mind already.

Carolina's POV

I can see the worry and desperation in Logan's eyes and it eats at me. He doesn't know just how good I am, how could he? As an awakened dormant I have power and strength he can't even imagine. Maya is excited and ready for battle and, damn it, so am I. "Logan, I'm going out there. You can either step up or step aside. This has nothing to do with you anyway."

He sighs and lets me open the door. I step outside with Logan flanking my right and our son flanking my left. A single werewolf stands 10 feet from the door, Marius. The brother of the wolf that killed Jacob. The brother of the wolf I killed. He's in his 40s with a disheveled look. He looks almost feral as he takes us in. "Marius." I say, spitting his name out like an insult. "Carolina" he replies in the same tone.

"You come to MY house and you demand I surrender to you. How do you think this will end?" I ask as I count the wolves that surround us. There are 13 that I can see, but there must be more lying in wait. Marius clenches his fists and says in a deadly tone "It ends with you on your knees begging for mercy." I laugh and he launches at me.

I see the attack coming, I see it clearly as if in slow motion. This is one of my powers, I can move so quickly that everything around me seems to slow down. It has its limitations, it only works in life or deaths situations, not at my will. I step aside and put my right hand out. His neck crashes into my arm and he collapses to the ground. I can see his surprise, his fear, and I like it.
