*Carolina's POV*

The past few months have all been a blur. Max and I went out a few times in January but it didn't work out once again. Cindy and Logan got back together in February, big surprise there. What actually was a bit of a surprise was that Evan stopped bullying me. Rumor around school was that Logan had scared him straight.

I'm sitting at the elite lunch table, reading a book and eating my salad when I hear Cindy speaking louder than usual. "Babe, prom is in three weeks and you haven't invited me, yet.", she says rubbing his arm and pouting her lips. "Oh, that's because I'm not going with you." He says as he takes a bite out of an apple, like he didn't just drop a bomb on her.

I put my fork down and look at them, just like everyone else on the table. The cafeteria is deadly silent when she replies, "What do you mean? You're my boyfriend, of course you're going with me." I can hear the irritation in her voice. Logan bites the apple again and shrugs, "I mean I already have a prom date and it's not you."

What the hell is going on? He's got another girl? Instant jealousy invades me. I feel like the walls are closing in on me. I hear Cindy gasp at his answer, "Who?!" She demands, her voice laced in fury. "Mia," he replies like it's the most logical answer in the world.

"What?," Cindy and I ask at the same time. Logan looks at me then and winks, "I asked you and you said yes, remember?" What game is he playing? I think I'd remember that. Was I asleep when this happened?

I hear the slap before I feel it. There in front of me stands Cindy, looking like the goddess of wrath. A second later,  Logan steps between us. He just seems to come out of nowhere. "Do that again and I won't be able to hold back." He's serious but Cindy doesn't seem to think so. "She's got you fooled, pretending to be so pure and innocent. Open your eyes, she fucked Evan AND Max!" I feel Logan take a step forward and Cindy takes a step back. I put a hand on his back and he stops moving. "Enough, Angel. Please, let's just go." I grab his hand and he lets me pull him away.

We're sitting under my favorite tree after the whole lunch debacle. I'm finishing his apple and Logan is lying down with his head on my lap. "I got slapped thanks to you." I say touching my face. "I just said the truth. I'm going to prom with you." He says booping my nose.

"Would have been nice for you to actually ask me before you got me involved." He sits up and looks genuinely confused. "But I did ask you and you said yes. Remember, the day we saw the fireworks on the roof?" "Logan we were 13 years old, we said a lot of things that night." He gives me the sweetest smile and kisses me on the cheek before whispering in my ear:"I meant every word I said that night. Every word, Mia." Then, he gets up and walks into the school.

I remember that night. It was a 4th of July and we waited until my mom fell asleep to sneak out to watch the fireworks from the roof of my house. His dad had just left them and he was spending more and more time at my house. That night under the fireworks I said, "When you're crowned prom king will you still be my friend?" "Who says you won't be standing right there with me, as my Queen?" "Very funny, I don't even think I'll get asked to prom." He pulled my chin up to meet his eyes, so bright under the fireworks. "I promise I will go with you if you promise we'll always be together."
