*Logan's POV*

The morning after the fight, I show up at the pack house more conflicted than ever. My uncle is already awake and waiting for me. We go into his study and he looks eerily calm. "I've been informed there was an altercation between you and Evan. Several of the wolves have already asked me about your relationship with the human."

"Uncle, he was hurting…" "Do NOT interrupt me, boy. I have been lenient, too lenient because you're my only nephew. When I became Alpha, I allowed your friendship to continue because it made you happy. I hoped Cindy would keep you and your wolf entertained, but you insist on being with Carolina Cruz. It would be different if you were an omega, like Max, nobody cares if an omega messes up but you're an alpha. You are supposed to lead. Your father stepped down as an alpha to be with your mother, do you think that was wise of him?"

Darn my parents and the mess they made. My uncle is right, but I still try to explain how this is different from my parents. "Alpha," I say, lowering my head in respect, "Raegor needs her. I need her. We need her because we love her." There, I finally said out loud, and I couldn't believe it took me 12 years to put my feelings into words. "You love her now, but will you love her once you turn 18? I will not watch you ruin your future and the future of this pack."

He stands up and using his Alpha voice orders me, "You will never mention your 'feelings' for this human again. While I'm your Alpha, my word is law!" I fall to the ground, my wolf bowing in submission. There's nothing I can do, short of challenging my uncle, which would end up with me dead at this point.

His voice softens, "Get your wolf under control. In a few weeks, you'll shift and the search for your true mate will begin. Carolina will only be a distant memory soon enough."
