*Carolina's POV*

When I decided to move back home, I knew I'd run into Logan, sooner or later. He is, after all, the Alpha of the local pack. I just didn't expect to see him as soon as we drove into town. I definitely wasn't expecting to be his damned mate, either.

Maya, my wolf, is suffering. I didn't think severing the mate bond would be so painful. I concentrate on driving, on getting to our new house, where I can finally crumble in private. Maybe I'll go for a run in the woods behind my property. My son doesn't ask any questions. He must sense that I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

My mind keeps going back to Logan. I knew he'd only gotten hotter with the years. I thought I was ready to face him, I was dead wrong.  Seeing him online and on tv is one thing, but being in his presence was overwhelming.  'Go back. Mate wants us.' I tell Maya to calm down, "We are the first dormant wolf to awaken in over 150 years. We will not succumb to this bond pull.'

We get to our brand new house and we both take a second to admire it. It's a beautiful colonial surrounded by three acres of land and it's all ours. I get out of the car and breathe in the countryside air. This is the perfect place to let our wolves run free to our hearts' content. It's private but it's only 15 minutes away from my mom's house and 20 minutes away from the high school.

"Thank you, mom. I know it wasn't easy to leave our pack and move back here." He says while giving me one of his amazing smiles. I hug him tight, "I'd do anything for you. Now let's go have something to eat, your uncle said he stocked the fridge with all your favorites. What time are you meeting with Elena?" "She should be back from Florida by 6."

Elena is the main reason we're back in Starlight City. AJ met her three years ago, on one of our visits to my mom. His eyes sparkled when he walked into my mom's kitchen and declared, "I just met the girl I'm going to marry someday." My mom laughed it off, "Mijo, you're too young to be talking about marriage." "Diego met Megan when they were 15, Mami." I retorted, my brother and his wife were the perfect example that you can find love at an early age. My mom went into full-on Latina grandmother mode

I still remember how much my husband, Jacob, laughed while my mother interrogated AJ and warned him about STDs. That was such a good day. Two months later, we lost Jacob in an attack from a rogue. A rogue I then hunted and killed with my own fangs.
