Heaven and Hell

*Carolina's POV*

I convinced Logan to meet at the restaurant instead of driving together. Something tells me this dinner is not going to go the way he expects. I spot Logan immediately, surrounded by fans asking for a picture. It's so weird to be reminded of how famous he is. I guess this happens when you take a celebrity to the hottest restaurant in the state.

I take the opportunity to admire him from afar before getting out of the car. He doesn't look that different from the boy I grew up with. His hair is cut shorter and he styles it slicked back. As is to be expected, he still has well defined arms but they are now almost covered by tattoos. He's wearing black skinny jeans, combat boots, and a white v neck shirt. He dresses like what he is, a rock icon.

I can tell the exact moment he senses me because he winks at me. I walk over to him and he says goodbye to his fans. I'm the recipient of many dirty looks as he puts his hand on my lower back and walks me into the restaurant.

*Logan's POV*

Mia looks amazing in a knee length black dress. Her curls are falling over her left shoulder and I can't help myself from touching her as we walk into Archie's. You'd usually need a reservation months in advance but Steven is the owner and chef so there's always a table for me. We are shown to our table and the waitress introduces herself as Kady. She pours water in my cup and totally ignores Mia. Oh, you poor unsuspecting waitress.

We're left alone and while Mia reads the menu I keep thinking that I have to win her back. I have to show her how sorry I am for hurting her. Maybe if I explain it all to her, maybe now that she's a wolf she'll be able to understand why I did it. She looks at the menu and calls the waitress over to our table.

The waitress flirts with me, again and shows way too much cleavage as she asks "Do you know what you want yet, Mr. Matthews?" I tell her my order while watching Mia with the corner of my eyes. She looks like she's about to strangle the waitress. It makes me very happy to see her jealous. She doesn't know she has no reason to be jealous, she's the only woman I've ever loved.

Kady puts her arm on mine and leaves it there. Then she says to me, "Would you like my phone number with that order?" Mia smiles, a predatory smile that I've never seen on her. This must be her wolf smiling. "Listen, Kathy..." "It's Kady." "I really don't care. Go tell your boss that a red head with a short temper just fired you." Kady laughs. "You can't fire me." "I just did, go into the kitchen and you'll see. Buh bye!"

Kady storms into the kitchen and I'm left stunned. This is not my sweet, caring, loving girl. "You used to be so sweet and now you're so mean." She shrugs, "She doesn't get paid to flirt and flaunt her boobs." "Still you've changed, the girl I knew would never be so rude. You are so cold."

Then I hear someone say "I don't know, man. She looks pretty hot to me." and, before I can react, my mate jumps from her chair into Steven's arms. What is going on? Raegor wants to kill Steven, so I warn him using my Alpha voice. "You've got two seconds to step away from my mate before I shred you to pieces."

Steven is taken aback by my comment but he knows me well enough to know that it's not an empty threat. He slowly takes a step away from her. Mia rolls her eyes at me. "Mate? Babe, did he just call you mate?" Steven asks Mia. Steven is really testing the limits of my control. "Who the hell are you calling babe?"

*Carolina's POV*

I clearly didn't think this through. "We need to calm down. People are looking at us, please." Steven calms down but Logan is starting to phase. His eyes are more wolf than human. I give him a pair of sunglasses from my bag to cover them. "I'm going to leave with Logan, but I'll see you tomorrow. Ok, guapo?" Steven nods and I don't know if he's brave or stupid because then he adds, "I trust you, babe."

I see Logan move in for the attack and I step in, holding both of his hands. "Look at me, Logan, only me. I'm leaving with you, ok? Let's go." Logan grabbed hold of my hands and didn't let go until we were at his place.

I know I shouldn't have come here, but he didn't even ask, he just drove without saying a word. He opens the door and pulls me inside. The lights in the apartment turn on by themselves when we walk in, it's not very bright, more like a soft glow. I can sense that his wolf is still in control. I take a few steps backwards, "Don't." he says "Don't run from us."

He walks up to me. Sparks surge wherever our bodies touch. Stupid sparks! Stupid Logan with his perfect body! I remind myself that I hate him but Maya keeps saying 'Mate. Mark him. Mine.'

He puts his arm around my waist and with a single move pulls me even closer to his body. I've never felt like this before. It's like every single thing in the world suddenly makes sense. I was made for him, he was created for me. I put my hands on his chest with the intent of pushing him but instead, I watch as my hands grab him by the shirt and pull him into a kiss.

This kiss is everything. It's torture and nirvana. It's heaven and hell. It's life and death. All rolled into one and more. I feel like I'm finally home. Then he growls 'Mine' into my mouth and a strong sense of déjà vu breaks the spell. I push him away and clean my lips with the back of my hand. I look at him in horror, it looks like Maya was finally able to get control of me.

*Logan's POV*

Mia breaks the kiss and looks like she's five seconds away from bolting. Raegor is thoroughly satisfied for now and I feel like the luckiest son of a bitch in the universe. Then she sits down and looks at me, eyes full of hatred. I want to comfort her but I know she won't let me near her.

I sit a few feet away from her and start asking questions. "Are you with Steven?" She nods but stays quiet. "How long?" "Five months." I swallow my anger. "Is it serious?" She doesn't answer, smart girl. "How did he find you?" "What do you mean?" "I mean after you left, how did he find you?" She hears the impatience in my voice and moves further away from me. "He's always known where I've been."

The blood drains from my face. Steven was the only friend I told about my efforts to find Mia. Just like my uncle, he betrayed me. "I looked for you, you know." She looks up in disbelief and shakes her head. "Of course, I was looking for Carolina Cruz, I wasn't going to find Carolina Thomas." I pause and then ask "Did you love Jacob?" "As much as I was able to." she replies and a tear falls on her lap.

I kneel in front of her. An Alpha brought to his knees by a single tear of his mate. "I never meant to hurt you." She tries to get up but I pull her back down. "Please let me talk, if afterwards you still want to leave, feel free to grab the key to any of my cars and go." I take her silence as a sign to keep going.

"My dad abandoned my mom as soon as he found his mate. My mom was a human, she didn't know anything about werewolves or true mates. All she knew was that the man who vowed in front of God to love and protect her, left without an explanation. You know what she turned into afterwards. She died so young."

"I'm sorry about your mom but I don't understand what that has to do with us." "Don't you see? I thought If I stayed with you, the same thing would happen. I didn't want that for you." She stands up and this time I let her. She looks stricken, "You are lying. You're trying to get me to forgive you because it turns out fat, ugly Carolina is your stupid mate after all."

"You know I'm not lying. You KNOW I loved you. From the first moment your eyes met mine, I've loved only you. My beautiful Mia, my Luna." For a moment, I think she believes me and then she shakes her head and says, "You should have been an actor. I almost believed you, you almost had me. Dios, pero que estupida soy!"

She grabs the keys closest to her, the Acura NSX, and runs out the door. I want to follow her but I don't. She needs time to go over what I just told her. I'm sure I'll hear from her soon.
