*Logan's POV*

As I'm holding Mia in my arms, I feel the tension start to leave her body. Although she's still unconsciously blocking a part of her mind from me, I hope she'll be able to forgive me. I can feel what she's feeling but I can't hear her thoughts or see her memories. Raegor sees this as a rejection and is trying to claw his way out.

I keep fighting to bring Mia's wall down. I keep showing her my memories and how much I suffered all these years without her. I show her my memory of our very first kiss and how much it meant to me, how hard it was to break apart from her. I also show her how conflicted I felt after we made love on prom night. She was everything I wanted but I thought I couldn't have. I allow Mia to feel my heartbreak when I thought I'd never see her again.

"Angel…", she whispers into my ear. A soft, tender sound that sends my heart into overdrive. It's been so long since I've heard that name from her lips. For a split second, I think everything is going to be ok. I can see us getting married, living with our son, having even more pups. And then, I hear Cindy's voice behind me and Mia's wall snaps back into place. Damn it!

"What the hell is going on here? I leave for a couple of days and you bring in a stray?" Before I can chew Cindy out for insulting my mate and using that tone with her Alpha, I hear Mia growling. Her anger pushes through the bond and burns through my veins. Wow, Mia really hates Cindy. I turn around, very slowly so as not to startle Mia's wolf.

I speak in my Alpha voice, "You will respect my mate, Cindy." Her face blanches and I see the hurt and disbelief in her eyes when she recognizes who is lying on the bed. "It can't be. She was human. A lowly, ugly, disgusting human!" Then it all happened in the blink of an eye, one second Mia was on the bed behind me and the next she's holding Cindy by the throat against the wall.

I take a step forward to prevent Mia from ripping Cindy's throat out but then I hear two words that stop me dead in my tracks. Goddess, please no, not now. I pray, hoping I misheard her. Mia gasps and lets go of Cindy who drops to the floor. "What did you say? Say it again!" Mia is full on screaming now, more wolf than human and I still can't move. I feel my whole future crumble around me as Cindy looks up from the floor at me and smiles as she says, "I'm pregnant."
