*Carolina's POV*I did my best to ignore Logan all week. I can't just go back to being his friend, not when I now know the way his lips taste. It's all I can think about when I see him. I keep dreaming about him. In my dreams his name is Raegor and my name is Luna. I dream about us being together and it's so good, but then I wake up to the cruel reality.
My daily routine has changed slightly, Max has been driving me to and from school every day. We've also started sitting together during lunchtime everyday. After school we go to the beach, where I sit down on the sand to do homework while he surfs.
His friends are nice enough, way nicer than the elite, and it makes me wonder why I ever put up with those snobs to begin with. Logan is not making it easy for me, every day I have to pretend I don't feel his eyes on me when I'm with Max. Even my mom noticed something was off because Logan stopped coming by the house. I tried to convince her it was just a silly argument but she didn't buy it.
I'm immersed in my thoughts, walking to an afterschool debate team meeting, when Jason, one of Max's friends, comes running towards me. "Your brother and Evan are fighting in the football field!" he says and runs back out. I follow him in a frenzy. I knew Evan had been too quiet. I knew it!
We get to the field just in time to see Evan slam Diego to the ground. Some primal instinct awakens in me and I jump on Evan's back. I start scratching his face as I scream like a banshee. As I stated before, I weigh over 200 pounds but Evan easily throws me off of his back. "Look, who's here. The whale came to protect her baby brother."
He's about to kick me in the stomach when I see Logan come out of nowhere and tackle Evan to the ground. They roll around and Logan ends up on top. He grabs Evan by the neck and starts punching him in the face. One. Two. Three times. "I told you to stay away from my family!", Logan yells as he pounds Evan.
Everyone is just standing around watching. I could swear some of the kids are even enjoying the show. I look around, the entire elite is here, all five of them. Cindy is licking her lips, looking more like an animal than a cheerleader.
"Stop!" I yell at the top of my lungs. Logan stops immediately and looks at me. "He hurt Diego. He hurt you!", Logan's voice sounds deep and rough, he doesn't sound like himself. "He's not worth it, Angel, please just take us home." I say pulling Logan by the arm. He lets me pull him away and we help Diego up.
Before we walk away, Logan speaks to Evan in a low menacing tone, "Touch my brother again and you'll deal with me. Touch Mia again and I. Will. End. You." Evan's eyes widen in fear. Oh God, just to see him looking so scared was worth the pain on my back.
* Logan's POV*
The only thing holding me together is the feel of Mia's hand in mine. We hold hands all the way to my car. "Get in.", I say, a little rougher than I meant to. "I have to find..." "Get in, Mia, please. It's taking every ounce of control I have not to go back there and finish Evan." Sensing that I'm not kidding, Diego gets in the car and Mia does the same.
Once we're out of school grounds, she turns to Diego. "Que carajos, Diego! Why were you fighting?" He doesn't look too bad, he'll have a black eye but there's no blood on his face. "He was talking shit about you.", he says, shrugging his shoulders, like that explained everything. Mia notices me gripping the steering wheel tighter, but I remain quiet. Raegor is growling in my mind. "I don't care what he says about me. I care about you. He's a lot bigger and you could have been seriously hurt.", my beautiful Mia, always trying to keep the peace. 'Like a Luna' comments Raegor, preening proudly.
"He was telling the football team how Max is having his sloppy seconds because he already had you. He said he fucked you, Carolina!", Diego says as he punches the back seat of the car.
The words are barely out of Diego's mouth when I do a u turn in the middle of the road. "What the...", Mia mutters, holding on to the dash for dear life. "Where are we going?" "I'm going back. Let's see if he can say that to my face.", there's a calm in my tone that seems to scare Mia more than my earlier outburst of rage."No! Take us home, Angel. So what if he said that? I don't care." I stop the car then, at the side of the road. I slowly turn to her, Raegor more in control of my actions than me, "You don't care because it's true? Is it true?"
*Carolina POV*
I feel like I've been sucker punched, the air leaves my lungs and tears flood my eyes. How dare he? He knows it isn't true. I look him dead in the eye and I answer. "That's none of your business. Now take us home."
