*Logan's POV*
Three hours later and Raegor was still furious at me, if he had his way, we would have killed Steven when he said that MY mate and MY son were his family. I know better, Mia is not in her right mind, she needs time and I also had to get Cindy away from her.
The ride to the pack house was strained and awkward. Cindy was afraid to talk to me and who could blame her? My wolf was reflected in my eyes, he was torn between protecting the unborn pup and the family we love so much. Questions plagued my mind, when was the last time I was with Cindy? We were always careful were we not? How can I get Mia to understand and stay by my side, as my Luna? This whole situation must be so humiliating to her, my poor, beautiful soul mate who's already been through so much.
Why was I so stupid? Argh! I could just kick myself. However, I wouldn't let another child grow up without a father.
A knock on the door of my study awakens me from my stupor. “Come in, Beta” Brian walks in with his head lowered in submission. My whole pack must be feeling my unease through our pack bond. “Alpha, Jordan has confirmed Cindy's pregnancy. Both her and the pup are in good health and the pregnancy is 9 weeks along. Also, Carolina left the hospital against doctor’s recommendations. She's back in her house with Steven and AJ.”
My blood was burning. They were together as a family. My treacherous ex-best friend and my Luna are together. I punch my fist through the wall and howl in frustration. “Alpha, please try to calm down. Some of the younger wolves are struggling and shifting without control. We feel you, Alpha. We feel both you and Carolina and it's unsettling.”
I take a deep breath, my Beta speaks the truth. I am an Alpha and should behave as such. I give orders to keep Cindy protected and to give her anything and everything she requests. Then I head out to Carolina's house. In order to calm down, I need my mate with me. I need my other half and I need her now.
I'm about to knock on Mia's door when it suddenly opens and Steven comes out of the house, closing the door behind him. “Logan, you're not welcome here.” I push him out of the way and take a step forward. “Mia! We need to talk!” I scream at the top of my lungs and then Steven tackles me to the ground.
We both manage to get in a couple of good punches when Mia's voice stopped us in our tracks. “Stop this foolishness, the both of you! I am not something you can fight over. Steven, I already explained to you that this relationship is over. I'm sorry but you deserve to find your true mate, I can't tie you to someone who's not your soul mate.”
My heart feels so happy. She's breaking up with Steven, does this mean she's choosing me? Hope flows through me. I smile and she turns her burning gaze on me. Goddess, please save me from my mate's wrath!
