Savana came back later in the night, as promised, but her fingers and eyes didn't leave her phone. Every time it went off, she barely let it be for more than a nanosecond. It was hard for anyone to talk to her without having a ringtone interruption. Lindsay did her best to carry on a conversation, but it didn't help that Savana continued looking down at her phone, completely distracted.
Lindsay seized her opportunity to ask her about it as they sat at the table, nearly alone, "Sav, what's up with your phone? You've been glued to it since you got home from your drive. Is everything alright?" She made her voice turn into a whisper , as to not let Ashton and Zayn hear them.
"What?" Savana looked up and spoke before letting her mind process the words, "Sorry, I just-It's been.. It's nothing." She finally sighed with a weak smile.
Lindsay's hands dropped to the table slowly, "Savana, you know I'll get the two of us and Sierra in the room and we'll keep you there until the truth comes out. You know how Sierra can get if you don't out-right say it. Hell, you know how I am when you don't admit it. So c'mon, spill." Lindsay smiled peacefully as Savana pursed her lips slightly, puffing her cheeks in frustration.
"How do you always get me to tell you my secrets?" Savana hissed through gritted teeth ass she stood, starting her walk back to the room.
Lindsay walked into the room after her, closing the door quietly. "Who have you been texting, and how are they more important than me?" She joked, hoping it would ease the tension.
Savana finally took her hand off her phone and ran her nails through her hair, tossing it all to one side, "I met up with an old friend and we started talking again. We used to be really close, then my dad told me that we were moving back to the states because he didn't like the media attention the two of us got. I asked him what I should do about the Michael dilemma, and that's why I've been so on top of my phone." Savana took a break to calm herself, "My friend, he's a bit more level headed than I am, and he's a few years older than me, too. All honesty, we used to date and we haven't caught up in a while. It's nice to be talking to him again."
Lindsay was confused, "Why'd you tell Michael you love him, if you like this other guy?"
Savana smiled, "I like my friend the same way I like you, Linds. Michael's a different feeling, you know? Like the night Niall asked you out, you remember what that felt like?" Lindsay smiled and nodded quickly, "Michael makes me feel like that, but he makes me feel like I'm covered in a million soft blankets when it's cold out. Like...Like there's a fireplace in the corner and I'm in the comfiest chair I've ever felt. He makes me feel like I have a heated jacket on while I watch a fireworks display in the dead of winter." Savana didn't realize that her eyes were closed, but she opened them, "My friend is a shoulder to cry on when I don't know who else to turn to. He really helps when I'm having boy troubles because, well, he is a boy. It's just.. I really like Michael, but my stupid ass doesn't know how to be in a relationship without my father meddling. He's very, for lack of a better word, intrusive when it comes to my love life." Lindsay tried interjecting, but noticed Savana just stopped for a sigh, "Since my dad isn't readily available like he once was, Josh is who I've turned to as a weird substitute-dad-friend."
Lindsay grabbed her hands and smiled, "Then why don't you do something big for Michael. If he makes you feel as great as the things you described to me, it's worth the biggest show in the world. Be the Niall to his Lindsay." She winked and Savana laughed quite loud.
"Man, why couldn't you and Josh be my parents? I feel like I'd be filled with existential wisdom before I made it to kindergarten." She hugged Lindsay, picked up her phone and walked to the door, making her way out and to the fridge.
