After class, Sierra held Ashton's hand and led him into his room while Lindsay set her things down and started on her mountain of homework. She sighed and started organizing. She looked over and saw Savana and Michael sitting at the kitchen table, surrounding a small child. It was around lunch time, and the three of them looked like they were having fun. It was messy, but fun.
She felt a weight shift beside her, "You and Niall still on the outs?" She looked and saw Liam sitting next to her, relaxed.
Lindsay took a deep breath, "Yeah, but I don't know what to do about it."
"What you're doing is just fine," Liam wrapped an arm around her shoulders, "What homework do you have?"
They went into a full blown discussion about Lindsay's course load, and Savana joined in at some point to give the baby a bottle for nap time. Michael sat, watching her in awe. Lindsay found it difficult to focus on her homework with so many people around and talking, so Savana and Michael figured it was time to put the baby in her crib.
"Why do I feel like they'd be amazing parents?" Liam said with an optimistic tone.
Lindsay slammed her book shut, "Did you see the way he was watching her feed that baby? They'd be fantastic parents!" She smiled, "Let's just hope they make it to that stage."
"I hope you and Niall make it to that stage," Liam said, "Little blonde-haired, blue-eyed babies. That'd be adorable."
Lindsay laughed slightly, "Thanks, Li." She opened up her book and continued reading.
"What's that then? What assignment is it for?" He was curious. His course load consisted mainly of music history and the student radio broadcast.
"Oh, it's A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. It's about a love affair between an expatriate and and English nurse in World War I. I have to analyze a few chapters and write any comparisons or symbolism described in the book." She sounded bored, and Liam knew it.
Liam shut her book, "Why don't you take a break for a bit? I know you've been tired lately, so why don't you take a nap? Savana was talking with everyone about the baby and sleeping arrangements, and she said the crib will be in your guys's room. She also said the baby isn't sleeping through the night fully, so you two might want to sleep in another room. If you want my bed for a nap, it's open."
"Thanks, Liam, but I think I'll take the age old advice of 'sleep when the baby sleeps.' Just like I assume that Michael and Savana now are. I can just sleep in my bed, it's alright. Could you just make sure no one moves anything? If they need to, just move it to the table?" Lindsay yawned mid-sentence, but Liam knew what she meant.
Liam winked at her and sent her off so that she could nap. Once the door to the girls' room was softly shut, Niall stormed out of his room and straight up to Liam, "What the hell, man? You know she's mine!"
"Niall, I know that. I'm just being a friend to her, like she deserves. I wasn't trying to do anything." Liam held his hands up defensively.
"Uh-huh, sure. Just like Calum was 'trying to be her friend' when he gave her an expensive necklace, then kissing her after she denied him." Niall's eyes were red, as if he hadn't slept in days. He was obviously still upset and jealous.
Liam sighed, "You know that she still loves you and only you, right? She's been hoping you talk to her because she doesn't want to accidentally say the wrong thing in front of you and have you explode like last time. You're the one in the wrong. She didn't go after Calum between getting the necklace and you yelling at her, we would've noticed. Niall, you need to just relax for a moment and think. Why would a great girl like Lindsay ruin a perfectly good relationship? She's a one in a million kind of person and you're treating her like she could be easily replaced. You're trashing yourself for doing something wrong, and absolutely nothing you've done is to the benefit of your relationship. The drinking and shit has to stop if you want her back." He didn't like what it came to. Niall had been a horrible person to be around since it happened, and he'd done nothing to fix his attitude and habits.
"I-I guess you're right." Niall sat on the couch, eyes wide with realization. "Oh, God, Liam, why did I do it to her?"
"You have a chance to do something about it later. Right now, she's taking a nap because this is her course load as of right now." He motioned for Niall to look at the table in front of them, which was covered in notes, papers, and books.
Niall stood up slowly and with a sigh, "I should probably go clean myself up."
"And you two should be quieter." Michael walked out of the hallway, slouched, "If that baby wakes up after how long it took for her to get to sleep, Savana will absolutely kill you two."
"Lindsay and I thought you two looked good as parents, and think you'd be good at it." Liam smiled at him.
Michael smiled back, "Really? Thank God. I'm trying to prove to Savana that I'm capable of taking care of a baby and that I'd be good at it and-"
"Mike," Liam laughed, cutting him off, "Relax. Even if you prove yourself now, I doubt she'd be willing to have a baby as soon as the term ends. You have time." Michael nodded as he walked into the kitchen.
Ashton walked out of the hallway next, his face almost completely enveloped by a smile.
"What did you and Sierra talk about?" Liam felt compelled to ask him now, since he'd talked to everyone that seemingly popped out of the hallway in the last twenty minutes.
"Sierra was just telling me about how she's thinking about a future with me, and she told me names she likes for babies." Ashton was shy, but excited.
Liam was happy for him, "Where's Sierra now?"
"Probably watching the baby sleep," He said quickly, "She's been wanting to see her ever since I told her Savana brought her in."
"What's the babies name again? There's way too many names in this house that all sound different." Liam shook his head.
"Her name's Elise." Ashton sat in a chair with his phone, happily.
