Fitz POV

"Okay! I think I've come to a conclusion!" Quinlin exclaimed. "The man in front of you is indeed Fitz!"

Finally! It really was me. But they won't see it coming. Sophie looked at me lovingly and I attempted to do the same. Luckily, I was a good actor so she couldn't tell one bit that I was trying to kill her.

"Oh my god, Fitz!" Sophie exclaimed. She threw herself in my arms, and I hugged her back, trying to ignore the urge to grab my dagger and cut her throat right then. I needed to be smart. When we were alone. When she was vulnerable.

She pulled away from the hug, stared into my eyes, and closed the space between us. Her lips were just as I remembered them; soft, sweet - wait what? No. I had to kill her. I pulled away before I got sucked in to a cloud of, ugh, love.

"I really, really missed you, darling!" she cooed. I gritted my teeth, but then plastered a fake smile on my face.

"I missed you too, Soph." Calla and Kenric eventually cam too, and we all sat there like a "happy" family, talking and laughing until it was time to sleep. After tucking Calla and Kenric in, I climbed in bed where Sophie was already softly snoring. This was the night I would finally get vengeance. I slowly reached into my cape pocket, pulling out a pre-sharpened dagger. I clambered up on top of her, holding my knife hand high above my head. With all the force I could, I jabbed the point right into her heart.

"OWWWWWWWWWWWWW!" Her blood-curdling scream echoed across the whole estate. What was I doing?!

"Sophie?" I shook her shoulders. "SOPHIE!"

Calla sprinted into the room. "WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER!!!???"

It took me a second to realize that she had seen the whole thing. "I swear I didn't mean to!"

"Drop the act," she said with misty eyes. "I've already called the council."

"Really! I didn't. Something was wrong with me an-"

"- Yeah, something is wrong with you dad. Or can I even call you that," she spat with disgust. I felt my eyes brim with tears. I didn't mean to! Vespera made me! But I couldn't explain that.

I heard the bang of the front doors slamming open. Twelve glittery figures sprinted up the stairs.

"SOPHIE!" the deep-voiced pointy-eared elf said with more feeling than I had ever heard him use.

"Sophie! Oh no, oh no, oh no!" Councillor Oralie sounded terrified.

The two of them knelt by her side while the other ten stood behind her.

"What is going on here!?" Councillor Emery's earthy words questioned.

"HE STABBED HER!" Calla pointed at me.

"Ms. Calla," Councillor Emery put his hand on her shoulder. "Please escort your brother to Lord Grady and Lady Edaline's house, would you?"

Calla reluctantly nodded and ran to Kenric's room.

"Oralie, Bronte. Take Sophie to Elwin," Emery directed. "Terik, Alina. Figure out where to keep Fitz for the moment. The rest of us will work on assigning punishment."

"I'm not sure I can let you do that." Orrep walked from out the corner. The voice sounded so familiar, I realized that was Vespera's ogre - Perro. Vespera came up with a very creative name.

Orrep - Perro - grabbed an extremely large sword. In one slash, he took out Zarina, Terik, and Emery.

"To think our world relies on these twelve elves, makes you realize how easily our whole civilization could collapse." Vespera waltzed into the room.

"Could you take a seat right here?" Councillor Alina asked, using her beguiler skills.

"Nice try, Alina. But your tricks won't work on me."

Darek and Clarette grabbed my arms, holding them behind my back. They took me out of the room, holding a crystal up to the light.

"Sophie can escape death," Darek told me. "But you can't escape Exile."

A/N To be Fitz, or not to be Fitz? This is the question. 'Tis a question that has been answered. Poor Fitz, who has made a mistake of the grave. Poor Fitz, who is being sent, unbeknownst to him. Thy shall be... find out in the next chapter!
