Charlie's POV
"I trusted you to fight her." Vespera paced around the room. "To kill her." She turned to me. "I trusted you to be able to cope with death. I trusted you humans."
"Please," I tried. "I just need more time. M-my Kantato just needs some updates and-"
"And then you can kill her, yeah. That's what you said last time. I'm starting to think you are not worthy of it."
The buff man that was always with her came out of the shadows. His name was Perro, I think. I'm pretty sure he didn't even know that meant 'dog' in spanish.
"I am! I can prove it to you. Just give it to me and let me show you!"
Vespera sighed. "I know you won't be able to hold up your end of the bargain."
"Give it to me and I can become her husband. Kill her instantly. Blame it on the darn guy."
Vespera smiled. "I like the way you think... meet me at Delta 702 tomorrow. Then we'll talk."
I nodded, then scrambled out.
